Does anyone think we stay up?

Boring serious post alert, but nobody knows. Let’s just enjoy the rollercoaster though because League One was f***ing dismal and it was only a few seasons ago. Whatever happens, it’s still our club and will still be our club, and we would be back again if worst happened. Back the lads to the hilt this season and it’ll give us a good chance.

I was at the play off final wow one of the best days ever. My first game watching the lads was Gillingham away in the okay off when we lost 3-2. My dad announced we were going with my Mum and we literally paid on the door wow!

The betting markets gave us about 12 points off safety coming 19th.

What’s the vibe everyone?

Personally I think without someone who can score goals we will go down. But there’s hope for us all and the next few games will tell us whether we have any chance of staying up !
My first game was th3 2nd leg of the Gillingham play off tie.

When you say the booked have us 12 points off survival, what do you mean by that?

It could go either way. I’ve literally no idea just how big the gap is - it seems massive - but until we see this team take to the field it’s tough to call.

If pushed I’d say this team might be capable of 34/35 points over the course of the season.

We certainly can. The "easy" start may actually be a bad thing, though. Bedding in an entire new team takes time and may affect our early performances, which could derail the season.

I am, however, confident that we will hit the ground running and build an early foundation to kick on from.

Can see us finishing 16th at best would take that in a heart beat though. Really not sure why people are saying stay up “comfortably” though

Huge pressure on RLB to get results after being backed well

I think that we will give it a go and in true Sunderland fashion either suffer a heroic relegation or manage to stay up. Last seasons relegated teams looked like losers from day one. None of whom looked convincing on promotion the previous season.

Need a decent striker in, otherwise we struggle
How many goals per season is a decent striker?

I keep seeing people say we need a decent or proven striker. How many goals does that equate to? Do they need to have prem experience?

It kind of feels like saying we need a unicorn tbh as good strikers cost ridiculous money and are very hard to come by unless you’re an established, top prem team, or you get lucky.

This won’t go down well but history suggests that we’ll struggle, how the new players gel and play together will become apparent in the coming weeks, my heart hopes we have a trailblazing season, my head tells me that we will be in and around the bottom three all season.

A good start is imperative. Getting rooted at the bottom , with added pressure to get results , loss of confidence makes the season that much more difficult. Getting 5 points after the first 3 games will be important.
It’s the EPL but just look at what last seasons start did for confidence / momentum.
