Do we REALLY need to sell this summer?


If we get into Europe then there is. I reason to. Just need to keep them together replace the players on the edge with better.
We need wingers, a left back and a stand in for Xhaka.

I think the additional spending restrictions for UEFA competions will make growing the squad within the rules a challenge.

A big sale or two with a view to bringing in 5 or so quality additions from our usual hunting grounds seems like the only way to do that sustainably.

Nobody really knows how much of a loss we will make? We will have had relatively low running costs prior to promotion as we were cut to the bone by Donald and Mervyn.

Obviously we'll have more non playing staff now.
 
The good thing is things is that there is no dire need for us to sell for either financial and footballing reasons. It would all come down to if the offer was so big that either the club and/or player felt we shouldn't turn it down.

I don't think we'll actually find that happening as much as expected. We talk as if it is inevitable we'll get 60m bids in for Sadiki and Roefs but I'm not sure we will. They are a good age and plenty of talent but have they done enough in one EPL season to merit that sort of fee which could only come from the properly big EPL teams? I'm not sure they have. The alternative is lower bids from other mid-table teams but would we actually sell in those circumstances or would the player be interested in leaving? I don't think so.
 
You will have some claim ( with certainty !) this will happen and others ( with the same certainty ) the opposite
Hopefully whatever happens it’s impact is positive in the long term ànd we continue to build -it’s been incredible so far ànd KLD must take an awful lot of credit
 
We don't need to sell to buy, but I think we will sell one to be able to splurge a lot more, but the problem is that both Sadiki and Roefs will be difficult to replace.

In other words, I'm fecking clueless 🤣
 
A major factor could be the World Cup; Stand-out performances by any of our players there could change the game.
Players heads are easily turned. Especially when they find out how much some of their international team-mates are getting paid elsewhere.

There's also the dreaded interview in their own language translated to seem like they're wanting to move. "Of course I'd be flattered if Big Club FC wanted me..."

Just hope we don't end up with an Isak-type situation with any players going on strike to get out.

I'm going to turn my phone off after the season ends until August so I don't have to read any of the speculation or rumours!

Hopefully they want to play regular football rather than sit on the bench if they even make first team squad at a CL club.
Would think for most of them this has been there best experience as a footballer, and they want more.

I think the likes of Roefs and Sadiki who are two of the ones people keep saying may go would be much better off having another years development here rather than moving somewhere they might not be first choice. It will serve their career as a whole better.
 
Don't see that we have to sell but everyone has their price

We are in a very strong negotiating position so anyone who does go will presumably only be on terms we are happy with
 
People on here always set themselves up for disappointment telling themselves we won't sell anyone because we don't "need" to, that's how we ended up with people melting down and raging at the club when we sold the likes of Stewart and Clarke. You have to understand that almost everyone is for sale for the right price.
