Do we envy the Mags too much?

He only had control over 2 of their results.

However, a genius manager with a large budget should surely do far better than finish only 1 point ahead of an average manager with a far smaller budget. You know him the mags sacked for not being good enough for the premier league.

Obviously I don't expect you to be able to comprehend the simply logic of the above with your head up a fat Spainard's hoop.

You're clutching at straws. They finished above them. Mourinho was lauded last season and he finished 17 points behind Spurs who have significantly lesser resources. Brighton already had a strong, gelled Championship squad prior to last season, Benitez had to build one. Hughton is a top manager at that level, by the way.

Must admit I think their support is top class. 51,000 average in the Championship is pretty staggering tbh and I'm not sure there's another club in the country that could do that. I've been labelled a mag on here for suggesting that in the past but I couldn't give a toss in all honesty.

Obviously they are in the Premier League and I'd rather it was us that was there but the good thing about them is that you always know the next fuck up and subsequent meltdown up there is always just around the corner. Fair enough it's hard to laugh at other clubs given the mess we are in but they do offer some light relief even in these tough times. Twitter/Facebook etc for example was hilarious on transfer deadline day.

Like Roy Keane did in his first managerial or even coaching role? It must be dead hard.

Benitez is still good at that level. Let's see how fatty does at the level he was brought in to manage at. Not great is my guess.

He will never win on here though. Most mags i know would be happy with 15th and below as long as we arent relegated.

On here though if he achieved that it would be 'lolol mighty rafa barely avoided relegation'

So just so its on record what do you count as a good job?

The January window is still to come so it's hard to say. I think he'll be doing well to have 20 points by the time it opens. As things stands you're crap on paper.

So if we have 20 points or there abouts he has done a good job? Love how you think the Jan window matters haha who you think we might sign messi?

You've spent big in the January window before. We stayed up under Sam purely based on his January deals.

20 points after half your games would have you about 15th, decent job based on your squad IMO. There aren't many worse squads in the league.

The mags are like a never ending episode of the fast show, it's funny even though you know what's coming next.

For what its worth december is disgusting so i doubt we will.

There would have been far less without Benitez. They are obsessed with him. He's a fairly negative manager who makes decent substitutions but they think he's the new Keegan for some reason.

Yes, he has won things but that was well in the past. Wilkinson won the league 10 years before he landed at SAFC.

What is there to envy from them?

1) They've been a yo-yo team for the past decade, constantly struggling, getting relegated and promoted again, hardly better than us?
2) We were the last one to reach a cup final
3) We have the superior derby record of late having beat them six teams on the trot...
4) The Mags feats from the 1990s are literally historic now

Bigger club than us, get over it.
The same way Arsenal are bigger than Tottenham or Liverpool are bigger than Everton. The Rivalry is the best part. Cant understand the constant threads about them though. Some on here are absolutely obsessed
 bigger club. Give the fuck ower. You're clearly trying to get bites

Some may do, but i don't care about them at, they are irrelevant, unless we play them season in season out, in different divisions Irrelevant.

Their crowds were low for a bit until they started spending loads, then they all went back... Shock horror
