Disgusting, toxic home support

I have no doubt I will be shot down on here, but nevertheless..

Attended the game today in the east stand, very close to north stand concession corner.

Absolutely sickening bigotry, foul and abusive language, and apparent hatred of..well pretty much everything and everyone.

In context only my second game of the season and third since the opening day of last season so no idea whether this is now the norm or something in the air today.

Quite a few kids around us and worryingly the worst perpetrators of the really disgusting language all seemed to have children with them.

C word, puff, *******, retard, f***ing southern bastards, inbreds...what a lovely bunch we had around us today.

No question in my mind it’s got worse over the last 5 or 6 years. A big factor in giving up my ST but today was a real eye opener having been away from it.

I’m sure at least 50% of safc supporters are decent, well brought respectful people but honestly, so many animals associated to the club these days, not for me any longer .Good luck.

When my dad started taking me when I was a bairn he said I would hear stuff but just to ignore it. Which I did. When I got older I formed my own opinions.

Goodbye.

In defence of the OP, I did hear a certain amount of racist abuse directed at Vaughan. Not a lot, but there was definitely some.

Hardly a surprise that there are racist comments these days though surely. Its been normalised in society for some time.
It needs to stop. We must all join together in this & stamp it out. Not by violence but by making it clear to the perpetrators that's it's not on. If those in earshot make that clear, my (admittedly limited) experience is that it stops. If we allow it to go unchecked, then in my opinion we're guilty by omission.

Any reasonable person should know what they can shout in public. I know what i say in public and in private can be completely different things. I would also try to moderate any bad language in front of kids or women, (old fashioned re women i know). The racist stuff though. A) its not on, B) i dont want my club to get a reputation as being full of mindless bigots. Its would be a stain on the club.

Yes. I get a bit carried away at matches (don't we all?) using a bit of the owld Anglo Saxon that I wouldn't necessarily use in front of the priest (actually, forget that, his is prollyz worse than mine) but there's a world of difference between profanity & overt racism. I think we all know that. The so called authorities are legally empowered to take action but ultimately I think it's up to us to make sure it doesn't get off the ground.
