Not sure about season ticket concessions but OAP concessions in general is a marketing ploy to attract business when everyone else is at work.
Between me and our lass getting state pensions on top of my defined benefit pensions we're on about the same as when i was working ....which is nice .I'm absolutely convinced that a fair percentage of the better off ones don't actually realise that they're pulling in more than a lot of working people.
WhileBecause I don’t think it’s sustainable. I’m resigned to the fact it won’t exist for my generation, as it happens.
I’m happy for it to rise in line with an appropriate index, it’s just the triple lock is a daft mechanism. I don’t want people to have less money.
and why notI'm absolutely convinced that a fair percentage of the better off ones don't actually realise that they're pulling in more than a lot of working people.
Because seniors vote.I’m fully aware this will be as popular as a guinness fart in a lift, but nevermind. Not trying to be contrary, just intrigued
Why is OAP a discount still a thing. OAP wealth is greater than all other age groups, why do they get a discount for the match, transport, the cinema, whatever?
Don’t give me Mavis who is living on the state pension, the counter is Steve who is living on unemployment benefits.
Why does that give you a cheaper match ticket?Because seniors vote.
Simple.
He's just wumming and fishing for bites as normal.
Figures from age UK show around 2 million pensioners live in poverty. 4.7m are cutting back on the use of energy as they can't afford the bills. There's other figures on their websites for poverty levels in the UK. Not that many will be interested.
This board generally is very ageist yet age is a protected characteristic. Strange you don't see these threads making sweeping generalisations against other protected classes of people. I wonder why that is? I honestly don’t know how a single OAP on government pension could survive.
Just seen this, I’m notHe's just wumming and fishing for bites as normal.

The 30 year old will get a discount in another 37 years time. It's a discount for the elderly millions of whom are struggling. Regardless of those daft figures that take into account properly value which is the biggest part of it. An old couple living in a house worth say £400k don't have that money in their pockets. They might be struggling to live but some figures show them stinking rich, so they must be coining it in. Keep your politics of hate and envy to yourself man.Just seen this, I’m not
See below, why is some aged 68 getting a discount for the match or the cinema ffs? vs a 30 year old.
Age Median household wealth (£) 16 to 24 15,200 25 to 34 109,800 35 to 44 209,600 45 to 54 301,900 55 to 64 496,500 65 to 74 502,500 75 and above 373,100
So the 30 year old gets the discount when they need it least. The 30 year old will get a discount in another 37 years time. It's a discount for the elderly millions of whom are struggling. If you must piss and moan about median disparity what about the difference between the south east and the north east.
South East: £489,800.
North East: £179,900
Why didn't the 67 year old today get the discount when he was 30? He didn't get it same as the 30 year old today. Your argument is crackers at best.So the 30 year old gets the discount when they need it least.
Politics of hate and envy ffs
It’s a reasonable observation that the post war generation have attained reasonable wealth. Of course not everyone, but equally not everyone who is 25. And it will get worse as unemployment increases due to AI etc
That’s an utterly obtuse argument. Why didn't the 67 year old today get the discount when he was 30? He didn't get it same as the 30 year old today. Your argument is crackers at best.
