Dirty Leeds United

Slightly different circumstances but it’s interesting to ponder. Define ‘come from’.

I can’t imagine being from Sunderland and hating SAFC even if I supported another team.
Define come from: born and lived there til I was 33. Love Newcastle as a city, but have no problem differentiating between my love for the place and my loathing of the football team.

Tbf I had no massive issues with the club til the mid nineties. And my dislike has only grown in the Saudi era.

I can’t really imagine it but when I return to the northeast I get nostalgic about pubs/clubs in Newcastle where I used to knock about as a teenager because I have fond memories of that time. More so than in Sunderland. And I too hate the football club.

I do find Mags to be a pain in the arse though, and every Novocastrian I’ve ever met has been a Mag.

Thanks for explaining.

My Dad was a massive SAFC fan, Durham miner who ended up moving to Newcastle. He took me to Roker Park for the first time in 1981, midweek game under the floodlights. Never looked back. I could’ve grown up on the Moon, I’d still support the same team 😉
