You know nowt about them do you ............. be honest. I don't and I live there.

Not sure how my home's proximity to the distant lands of Ligue 1 can influence the numerous games I watched last season, sorry.

i would have took gardner and wickham but not for that price. The rest are nowt worth writing home about imo.

Gardner is a young English midfielder who scored 10 goals in a relegated side.
He is relatively young and I get the impression from hearing him speak that he has a great desire to succeed.
You had a midfielder capable of scoring from midfield but let him go. I assume because of his age.
You should have looked at Gardner for £6m as his replacement. Yes you have signed a frenchman but it's a gamble and you know it is.
Connor Whickham for £8m ?
A no brainer. With abit of luck he could turn out to be the buy of the decade.
Lives for football and will only get better. Maybe England's number 9 for years to come.
You know it anyway and are green as the OP says.
Larsson a great deliver of the ball who gets it into the box quickly, a Swedish International and he cost nowt. Arsenal were in for him, give your dirty green head a shake.
Westwood, widely accepted as the best keeper outside the Premier. Eire's number one for years to come and he cost us nowt. Haway, it's great business.
Ji, yes a gamble, but for peanuts, a gamble worth taking. If he can emulate the other South Koreans in our league it will be a great bit of business, but hey you already know this.
On the flip side Cyril, I would have liked Demba Ba here. He is a gamble as you know. Fit he will do a job, keep your fingers crossed.

Nolan was allowed to leave because Pardew doesn't deem him good enough to allow us to progress.

What do we have instead? Oh right, a French international who was the fulcrum of Lille's Championship winning side from last season. Think any Newcastle fan has the right to feel slightly upbeat about those two developments.

Good post.

Is that what you believe?

Shirley keeping Nolan would have allowed you to progress? Replacing him with players that might not score doesn't exactly scream good deal does it?

Erm, yes? What with Pardew confirming it a few hours back live on BBC radio.

He wanted 5 years and guaranteed first team football, which we couldn't offer him.

So you know a fair amount about the new players?

Should be fairly obvious by now, but yes I have seen them all play regularly over the last few seasons.

Replacing him with a younger player who can actually run and contribute to more than one physical aspect of the game, most notably in ball retention and creativity, screams 'good deal' to me. What about you, or is the only important aspect of a CMs game scoring goals?

Well if I accept that you know what you are talking about perhaps you could tell me where your goals are gonna come from ?

Given the lack of firepower in your midfield last season I think you're in a better position to talk about this.

On a more serious note Pardew has confirmed that the club wants to bring in two further attacking options.

I'd say Sessegnon and Gardner but I'm unsure why we'd have to rely on goals coming from midfield when we'd have one or two strikers playing as well. It all depends on tactics.

Plus I'm counting on us bringing in a left sided player and another striker.

Keith Treacy must have you licking your lips with excitement.

Yes I take your point BUT I think signing Gardner has added firepower to our midfield.
At the mo you have Ba, who may well turn out to be a liability. We all know as you do, that what Alan Partridge wants,he may not get.

Will only consider this once the window has shut and all business has been completed (or not). No point negatively speculating.

For now I'm going to take on board what Pardew wants and I agree that he is targeting the most important areas. We get 2 good attacking players in and we do 'well' next season, we don't and...

I agree that Gardner seems like a wise addition to your midfield.

I don't really see the point of this thread. At this moment in time I wouldn't say we're a great deal better than them.

If they have something like the following lining up against us it's not going to be easy:

----Ba----

Arfa--- Cabaye---Marveux ---Barton

-----Tiote-----
Enrique--- Sideshow Bob ----Williamson---Simpson
---Krul---

It was £8m.

even for a Mag you're thick as mince.

Ba - an injury waiting to happen
Arfa - 4 game Superman. Laughable
Cabaye - unproven
Marveaux - see Cabaye
Barton - offski
Tiote - headless chicken with HOW MANY bookings last season?
Enrique - See Barton
Williamson - not up to PL
Simpson - See Williamson

Not doubting you for a second (;)) but why were you watching French league games on streams last season?

Because my dominatrix insists that I watch at least 1 and a half hours of French football a week. You think?

Now tip your head in the other direction and try again, or are you permanently stuck with your ignorant biased rival-bitter slant?

Is that posh talk for 'I'm lying through my teeth to back up a shite argument'? :-D
