Diarra out till December

The only member of the squad we have nothing in the way of a like-for-like replacement for

Huge loss
I dunno, he's not Diarra, is still very green at this level, but I think Rigg isn't a million miles away from being able to do that role.

Huge ask for him to step up and replace a £30m record signing International level player, but also amazing opportunity. He's got the athleticism, although maybe not the strength yet, I reckon he's got the technical ability, and RLB trusts him. This could be the making of him if we're lucky.

Its a massive blow, let's not downplay it. The manager clearly prefers Le Fee on the left, which leaves an 18 year old kid and Dan Neil who loads on this forum thought wasn't good enough last season in the championship.

For 180 seconds
Loads on this forum haven't got a clue about anything though. I'm sure RLB can manage it, injuries were always going to happen.

There’s options still available thankfully.

Rigg
Le Fee - Mundle coming back in the next 2 weeks helps with this
Neil
Even that Geertruda (however you spell it) can sometimes fill in CM I’m fairly sure. Or we switch to 5 at the back.

Thank fuck for our recruitment staying busy throughout. We’d be right in the shit if we only signed 7 or 8.

You have to ask the question what on earth happened in training, not a full pelt game, that has resulted in a player copping an injury that will take 4 MONTHS to get over.
Did he already have some ‘weakness’ or predisposition?
Did another team member do it?
I find it bewildering frankly

Why? He looked worse playing further forward than he did in front of the defence last season when he actually played there.
I think because it's where he played when he first came through and he actually looked a threat going forward.

That was in League One though, considering he's played about 100 games since then as a defensive midfielder I'd agree there's no reason to think he'll be better in an attacking role now.

I'm sure he'd take whatever chance he can get at this point mind.

In almost every case, the recovery period ends up being significantly longer than the initial estimate provided by the club.

I'd expect it to be well into the new year before he's playing again.

Shit news but still a number of options with Geertruida, Xhaka, Sadiki, Le Fee, Rigg and Neil all available.

Recovery time for a football player after groin surgery depends on the type of surgery and individual factors, but generally:

Minor procedures (e.g., adductor release or minor hernia repair): 6–12 weeks.
More complex surgeries (e.g., sports hernia or extensive groin reconstruction): 3–6 months.

Timeline:
0–2 weeks: Rest, pain management, and limited movement to allow initial healing.
2–6 weeks: Gradual introduction of physical therapy, focusing on mobility and light strengthening.
6–12 weeks: Progressive return to sport-specific training, including running, cutting, and kicking.
12+ weeks: Full return to competitive play, assuming no setbacks.

I think we will more than likely go to a 5 at the back for the next few games at least.

Roefs
Hume Mukiele Ballard Alderete Talbi
Sadiki Xhaka
Rigg Le Fee
Isidor

Talbi can push forward and defence falls into a 4. Makes the most sense to me.
