He can play the role Xhaka does, unless we decide to go with two defensive midfielders which would hurt our already fairly weak creativity. Can the lad from Leipzig play in midfield medium term?
He's a defender really, when Le Bris has spoken about him in midfield that would be defensive midfield, more where Xhaka plays or bringing him on for two deep midfielders when we're under it like he did against Palace. Can the lad from Leipzig play in midfield medium term?
Played 22 games either as DM or CM in his entire careerCan the lad from Leipzig play in midfield medium term?
I hope you're right, it works well for us if that's the case, but given it's a big tournament that they surely have an eye on doing well in, and the knockouts aren't until early Jan, I wonder if they'll take the risk and take him anyway, even without being match fit.Senegal won’t pick a player with zero match fitness
He won’t be fit for us till January, given he will need a couple of weeks full contact training.

Its a massive blow, let's not downplay it. The manager clearly prefers Le Fee on the left, which leaves an 18 year old kid and Dan Neil who loads on this forum thought wasn't good enough last season in the championship. It's a blow but we have RIgg, Le Fee and Neil who can play there. We'll cope.
For 180 secondsDid well on Sunday
Dearie meFfs have we singed another knacker?
Realistically I think it's Diarra himself who would have the final say. Senegal can call him up regardless, and we aren't allowed to stop players accepting.I hope you're right, it works well for us if that's the case, but given it's a big tournament that they surely have an eye on doing well in, and the knockouts aren't until early Jan, I wonder if they'll take the risk and take him anyway, even without being match fit.
Not unusual in big tournaments for teams to nurse a player through group stages.
(different question, but who gets the final say on if he's fit or not? If our docs say he's not for, does that overrule Senegal, or could they call him up even if his leg is hanging off?)

I love Riggy but he's not a winger imo. It's a blow but we played well without him on Sunday. Le Fee in the middle gives us a bit more creativity and Rigg out wide gives us a lot of energy and defensive support for the full back.
Loads on this forum also thought Speakman and Le Bris weren't good enough for the championship, like. Its a massive blow, let's not downplay it.
