Diarra lately

For all we know, he might have scored a similar goal against Roeffs in training, last week. I think he's talented enough to score that kind of goal. I've seen Messi and Ronaldo miss similar. It happens. What a lot of people do not acknowledge is how fast the keeper was off his line and how he got his hand to it. Class goalkeeping.
If we are going to continue the modern trend and play one up front then we need midfielders who can score goals. Diarra averages 1 in 10 and Sadiki averages 1 in 60.😳

I was annoyed in the moment but on reflection it’s clear he tried to score a top class goal because he was full of confidence, this isn’t the usual failure that’s criticised where a striker fails a one on one because they lack confidence and bottles it.

It’s the teams belief in themselves that got us back to 3-3, they don’t give up and believe they’re good players who can win this game, Diarra saw himself being the hero and wanted it to be special.

Unfortunately he is a young player who has had an interrupted first season in the prem up against one of the top keepers in the world who thrives in situations like this. I’m sure with RLB there he’ll learn from this and improve.

It’s obviously not great but we can take some consolation in the mistake coming from a young a player brimming with confidence rather that one who was scared to find himself in a crucial one on one.

Also it’s harsh to put too much focus on a player not scoring in a game we conceded 4 mostly preventable goals

Course they can but one is a far bigger problem than the other.

Anybody can miss a chance but being cut open time after time and losing your man is a bigger concern for upcoming games.
Rigg totally lost overlaping player for the second he does that too much needs to learn and quick or his progress will be costly. Before any one chirps he aint a right winger or right sided midfield player i rest my case.

We saw him shoot this season. No, he can't score goals like that, even Messi and Ronaldo struggle to finish like that. Keep it simple and check if you have a team mate next to you.
Is he forgiven yet?
Of course he is.

Diarra was shocking for Senegal in the African cup and I do believe he's picked up a lot of bad habits from his countrymen. Remember he got suspended for the final stupidly. Senegal also walked off the pitch for 20 minutes in the final in protest. They also strutted about the place for most of the competition believing in their own hype. So we see Diarra trying to take clever penalties (Leeds), storm off pitch(Port Vale), trying to do a Messi when one on one(Villa) and waving imaginary yellow cards.....he needs all this shit knocking out of him. Just concentrate on what got him to this level. Needs a Roy Keane manager at him.
