Diarra lately

For me his play acting for their goal was disgraceful and something that has been installed in him when playing for the likes of Senegal etc. That is not how you act when you play for SAFC.

It appears he hasn't got the vibe of our supporters yet. At SAFC we love honest warriors who might have bad games but show passion and fight on the pitch. It is a concern his performances to date are not showing that fighting spirit and I'm afraid if someone doesn't have a word with him then he could become a problem. Playing at Port Vale he didn't fancy the pitch then storms off at full time. This week he's feigning head injury whilst we are defending a corner. In games he disappears if things are not going well. He needs a big kick up the arse and quickly. You can have bad games Habib but no fight and bullshit we won't accept.

Not trying to make any excuses for Diarra here given the faking injuries and all round terrible play, but could the Muslim fasting regime he’s currently on be a factor?

We know that Diarra and Talbi are fasting from the club’s social media, and assuming that Xhaka is too as a Muslim, it’s asking a lot of your body to play an elite level football match without having any food or hydration all day. Might not be a coincidence that all three weren’t at their best yesterday, or at Port Vale.
Hopefully. It would be at least an excuse. Ignoring his choices.
How can so many fans not believe Brobbey can off yesterday ? He’s been out about a month, came back yesterday and gave us a good 75 mins. I actually can’t believe people think he was going to play the full game.
I was initially surprised he went off like. I was more thinking about how we were going to get back into the match rather than Brobbey long term. It does make sense he was never planned to play 90mins, but taking him off felt like a surrender. Mayenda up front with him is forcing the issue. Mayenda by himself late on is a definite downgrade.

I’ve been really surprised at this. It’s so obvious that he was going to go off first game back. He barely completed one when he was fully fit

He’s probably got the hardest role in the team. He’s up front on his own, normally against 2 bruising centre half’s. Sometimes he’s wrestled off it, other times he wins it and holds it up, now what’s his options ? Look backwards and find a team mate then get himself forward to find space to receive it again. He’s more often than not resigned to taking a punt 20 yards out cause his service is poor at best. Doing that for an hour must absolutely fuck him, I’m pretty sure mayenda who’s filled in the last few weeks will be thinking ‘how the fuck does Brobbey do what he does.

Diarra is our record signing yet on current form shouldn’t get into the side.

If, and it’s a big if, we get a few players back for next Sunday, he’ll be on the bench.

It finishes in Wednesday 17th or Thursday 18th. We might have two or three players back next week and three or four not fasting. Straw clutching here😁

I thought Mayenda did a lot better yesterday- he is no Brobbey mind. But held the ball up well enough when he got it. Couple of stray passes. Neither did a thing with Dunk in the air.
That said our goalscoring likelihood went from 0 to -1. Also it’s easier to do it for 20minutes or so instead of 70+ like has been asked of him lately

I actually think he should play off Brobbey next week if Le fee is out. With our current options that is. Although I’d play le fee and drop diarra anyway. Just give diarra a bit of a reset.

What a time to be alive! An absolutely threadbare squad and confidence seems void too

I like Mayenda, he can sometimes create something from nothing. But I don’t think anyone can deny his limitations, especially as a lone striker.

So this is on Le Bris a bit. His reluctance to throw caution to the wind is frustrating at times, like going two up front for a decent part of the game.

Obviously we are where we are based on sound tactics, but we also need to be a little more flexible at times.

I think he has to play the together for a little bit, both need help! Mayenda running off Brobbey could be a dangerous threat.

I love Regis for what he has done here, but yesterday was a perfect chance to shove someone on for an appearance like the Whittaker kid or one of the Jones just to give a bit of interest to see if they could find some magic or spark the crowd. I know they aren’t that type of player but young academy kid might’ve lifted it

Abdullahi was surely worth 10 minutes last week for example.

We can’t be expected to be happy with trying the same tactics that previously worked when everyone was fit with square pegs in round holes now.

His injury, his surgery, Afcon have all had an impact on him.
If its true that he had a strop at the end of the game at Vale Park then obviously he needs to be advised about his attitude. Didn't help himself yesterday with his play acting in the six yard box when they scored.
I wouldn't write him off at this stage. He needs to show more and the coaching staff have to help him do that.
