I think that leaves us with pretty much as bad a championship batting line up as I can ever remember...

Even the likes of Gary Pratt, Michael Gough, Robin Weston & Nicky Peng were better than some of those we are relying on now.

For me that's the nail in our Division 1 coffin.

IF true. Was absolutely gutted when I heard this after the game yesterday.

He's a top pro is MDV and I hope he stays on. On a personal note he's been very kind to me and my partner, along with a friend and his son that go to the cricket. Always approachable and friendly.

He'll be a big miss.

Might have to try and nab his county shirt for the 3rd season running :)

He'll be a huge miss. Players move on and that all the time but what a player he's been. Surely now the club MUST spend some money. Is Hussey too much of an ask?!

I can't imagine there is much cash left!

Nowt at the moment. A fair few I reckon will leave during the winter.

Myburgh will be the only player brought in this season for LVCC, and as said earlier he hopes to find out some craic soon.

This may put things in perspective
Collingwood's task of saving his home county from relegation has not been made any easier by the news experienced opening batsman Michael Di Venuto is expected to be ruled out for the rest of the season because of injury

Gutting if true.

As safcdccc indicates the bloke is not on a magnificent player but also a magnificent person. Me and my lad have got to know michael in the last couple of years and he is as nice a person as you could meet. I couldnt speak highly enough of the bloke.

If this is the end for him then he goes back to Tasmania with the best wishes of our family. Hopefully I'll get too see him before he goes back to the other side of the world.

The end of an era, but a day that would always come.

i think the club now realise that a change in the playing squad would be not only good for Durham CCC but also for the lads themselves. Its time to freshen things up a bit.

Benkenstein and collingwood have to remain central to the club as it moves forward though.

I think that Myburgh is a lad that we should seriously consider giving a 4 day contract too and I'd have gibbs back next year for the T20. Both have been good to watch and really nice lads as well.

MDV summed up perfectly.

I'd like to see Gibbs back next season for the T20, he's been a joy to watch and is very good in taking time out to make an effort with people.

l.

Agree wholeheartedly with that however I'm just worried Benks playing days are very limited too as he's been suffering with niggles this year. As a coach both can be good for us mind.

Furthermore, we knew a couple of years ago that this day would come when we would have to replace a bulk of our more senior/talented players. It's just a shame the club seems to have been so oblivious to it as I can't see where the replacements for Diva, Colly, Benk, Blackwell, Thorp, Harmison et al are going to come from!

does anyone remember when he was posting on the LMC whilst at the crease on his blackberry during a county match?

Swingers!!

I've not been as gutted by a thread title in a long time. The blokes been class for us since signing helping us to all trophies the clubs won.

I wish him all the best with whatever he does next

Announcement expected this week. No sign of him today at the ground either.

Announcement regarding what?

His future after recent "press reports". In other words the press have read it on here, printed it and the club have decided they need to issue a statement.

The same press who said the game was in doubt yesterday
