Just got back into this after a long lay off, currently light 300 whats the quickest way to level up and get good gear ? and what do you do with all your tier one exotics and raid gear ? Forgot how good it was

Just do random stuff, pretty much everything will drop useful gear that will push your light slightly higher. The raid is the way to go for every kind of gear though, like ghosts and artifacts. Year one exotics are pointless now, although you can buy year two versions from a kiosk in the tower.

If you can get in a raid do it, level up faction, use three of coins for exotics, challenge of elders.

Shard year one gear unless you want it. Certain stuff isn't available in year two like thorn, icebreaker, gjallahorn.

Buy them off xur. Consumables that give a chance at an exotic engram from a ultra kill. Use one when you run a strike and you might get a drop from killing the boss.
They work in raids and crucible too.
