dessert shops

why are these everywhere ?A little slice of cake with hundreds and thousands sprinkled on top and nee change from a fiver for it .What's the crack with them ?Money laundering is what I've heard iirc there because the old card machine always seems to be on the blink there
They're class man. You can get a load of ket in a pizza box from some of them for only three times the price from the supermarket

I think the same about coffee shops
But the world seems to love them
A cuppa was something you did at home when it took your fancy
Now it's an event
Coffee is at least moderately expensive and requires specialist kit to make espresso properly.

They’re for women who are being naughty and why shouldn’t they and then fret about diets afterwards

I get there's coffee officianados ( spelling ) but I honestly think most are a bit lost at the menu and winging it . I think we stop and go in as an event not because of the beans etc and yes its expensive otherwise it doesn't pay
There's a hell of a lot of people who buy drinks that have nowt to do with coffee too. Some simply no longer taste of coffee at all, others had none to start with.

That's before the coffee menu itself!

And most chain coffee shops don't actually have great beans, frankly.

Really wish there was a "proper" coffee shop near me.

I was wondering the same about the money laundering. There are some in Sunderland that never seem to sell any cakes when I walk past, and the cakes look plastic.

I will make an exception for PatiCake near the Ivy House which is quality scran made by nice people.

I read a case study on Eggfree Cake Box recently. I really admire their ethos and it's empowering Muslim women to work around raising their families which I thought was inspiring.

Missed the ability to have a random coffee and a cake during lockdown .

Following the science obviously.
