agreed. He does set a good example but not sure he is financially viable and worth the money tbh

Even when he doesn't score runs he's still an attribute to the team. His bowling always seems to be economical, he is excellent and his experience will be crucial to the young lads. Although I agree, whether that is enough to warrent the money he is gonna cost us if he's not scoring runs.

He also said someone from Radio Derby reckons he will be staying here.

The game looks like it's going to be called off any second, so we'll know soon.

Just had a gut feeling there, be very pleased if he does stay as I think if he wants to we can get another good couple of seasons form him, his fitness isn't an issue.

i cant see any news that would require an annoucenemt other than hes off. if he was staying there'd be no need to shout about it surely. as happy as it would make me

The Notts bloke on the radio is saying the fact that it's just a press release, rather than a press conference suggests he might be staying. I dunno whether it's just blind hope, but I sort of agree with him.

Not going to say I told you so. ;)

I've got a pretty strong suspicion that one of the other high earners will be off though.

Most likely would probably be Harmy.

Harmy has a 2 year contract, he said himself he expects to retire at the end of that next season. Unless he brings that forward I can't see him being off. I think Benks will retire and Collingwood will take over the captaincy of both teams.

I was thinking more Harmy leaving for another club because he can't get in the team at the minute through either injuries or poor form and when he has played this season he's been poor. Whereas DiVa and Benks are still crucial parts of the team, although I think they might both pack in together at the end of next season.

I don't think Harmy will want to leave the North-East at all and I very much doubt any other county will want to offer decent money to a bowler in his mid 30's who doesn't play any limited overs cricket and who's body is falling apart. I think Benks will want to go out on a high and any trophy success this season could be that, otherwise I don't actually see any big earners leaving the county.
