Depford Bank

Deptford.
And what is all this "bank" shite? - Some hipster trying to make out that it's a trendy new name?
It's Farringdon Row leading into Hanover Place.
How do you connect the Ropery to Deptford though, It's been in Deptford for a long time, so that's going to be a challenge.

Is the ropery still going?
Some shank from the Saltgrass to there mind.
I remember the old mini bus that they used to put on back in the day - it was a great idea.
Mind you, - agree it was just known as Deptford then - no mention of a bank or any other fancy made up trendy name.

Dinnar, not been down that way for years. To many hipsters for my liking

The old mini bus, aka the Riverside Rover. Bit bizarre, likes of the saltsgrass would be packed, loads while pile out and be quiet for a bit as they all jumped on the bus. Bus would come back and loads would pile in, was a great idea. Can't remember if it ran from "Deptford Bank" to the Stade de Illumier. Memory all a bit hazy as mainly staggered back full of beer into Sunderland, usually missed the minibus.

Was that like a computer place. Think I did a week work experience there

Aye it was. Less said about the staff who worked there the better, but the lads and lasses being trained were a good bunch. edit - apart from the mole who used to go and crack one off the wrist in the bogs every break time. No doubt he'll be doing a long stretch inside now for wanking in crowded train carriage or something

There were pictures posted on here recently. It looked canny hipsterish.

Fisherman beanie hats, oversized shirts and cords with the bottoms turned up all ower.
Yet he hasn't been for years. ;) The 'hipster' thing is a very recent change in clientele.
My suspicion is that he isn't afraid of the hipsters but is an incontinent old man who is concerned his Tena pants will be overflowing before he gets to the top of the hill.

Deptford Downhill,
hang on, too confusing 😂

Only when we get lots of houses, two film studios and the low footbridge will the Ropery ever be a success as a pub.
The “hipster” image of the other places is good imo, could become like Ouseburn over time.
