Denver Hume- the forgotten young'un

He is nowhere near as bad as some on here will make out, just to justify their vitriol at the time.

Was half decent as evidenced by the almost Championship moves that never materialised.

Was an alright attacking full back/wing back. He’ll have a lower league career but the injuries have held him back.

5 pages (and counting) on a Denver Hume thread in the year of our lord 2024 is somewhat astonishing mind.

Few other league 1 era players would get this much attention.

If not for his supposed mag leanings and the contract situation not one soul would care.

FWIW I think he was a perfectly decent second choice left back option for where we were at the time but ultimately Cirkin was a better option.

Hume was slightly older and said himself he needed to be the first choice at that stage in his career to progress. It didn't work out for him but you can see his thought process and it wasn't as malicious as many on here seem to make out.

He was a young player who played for an underperforming sunderland side in league 1 under phil parkinson. He was actually one of our better players for a period of time and was a decent attacking wing back. He was no better than League 1 level mind but there was definitely potential in him at the time just didn't kick on.

He was crap at defending though.

There was a time, the Parky era, where Hume was probably our best prospect, we were playing 343 and he was maybe our biggest creative threat from left wing back.
Only he never created anything because his crosses were woeful and when he had a shooting opportunity he was terrified.FTM
