Defoe

Fletcher and Defoe would be ideal IMO, he has to try it at home against Burnley and QPR, I think the fans are getting frustrated and if we see Defoe totally isolated like Fletcher was, people will start to turn.

It would quite probably be the way to go in those games - not least because they both play 4-4-2, so we wouldn't be outnumbered.

But you don't need to play 4-4-2 to avoid a striker being isolated, there are plenty of other formations that achieve that without surrendering midfield. For the most part, 4-4-2 wouldn't suit us at all as we don't have the midfield for it.

I know, we could play a number 10, but I think we do have the players for a 442 diamond

Cattermole at the base, Larsson and Rodwell in centre mid and Johnson behind Fletcher and Defoe

The full backs provide width and you have plenty of numbers in midfield

We have been drilled into thinking we can't play this way, its complete shite, it isn't even that attacking formation at all

out numbered in midfield? we never ever have the ball, so what good is it doing?

teams know they can take risks against us because we never put them under pressure or score goals
