Defoe

Totally agree with the last paragraph. It also reminds of a Bruce signing similar to Gardner, we need goals from upfront buy him with little thought how he would fit in.

Hope he does well at the club

Me too. Think he will, he's a decent addition, just one that demonstrates that the club still hasn't got a recruitment policy.

Plan A = Borini.
Plan B = ?
Plan C = Anyone.

What do you think about the fact that Fletcher has outscored him in the PL over the last four seasons (exc this season obviously).

Since Fletch has come into the Premier League he has played 158 games and scored 48 goals. In the same period Defoe has played 129 games and scored 45 (not including 11 goals in 16 games in USA). This is up to date so includes Fletcher having a full year on him and bearing in mind that a majority of Defoe's appearences will be subs whereas Fletcher have been mainly starts.

I'm just waiting for a failed medical, the MLS to tell us Joze has to stay here, and Harry to reveal to the press that despite being a long time Everton Fan, and despite not being in contact with Toronto officially, Defoe is always someone he has really, really, admired.

Having Defoe is alot better for us as a squad but if Gus doesn't work on the quality he brings within the team, then he isn't really going to improve things much.

To win we need to change the mentality of the players, the way we approach games and play in such a way we get the best out of him.
He's failed to do that alot this season, we'll just have to see what happens if he does sign.

He is just what we need, his name alone brings a threat and nervousness to defenders.

I could give two hoots about the fee, his wage is his market value, he brings goals.

Personally i think it smacks of an obvious signing from a bottom half club shitting their pants and hoying money about with little thought.

I'd be laughing if QPR had done it.

Hope i'm wrong like.
I agree. And well done to the club for acting and doing something about it. I'd be gutted if Hull or Leicester were signing him.

Not claiming to be ITK here but I've just had a mate ring me to say he's had a tip off that Defoe is signing for us tomorrow. He has no connection to Sunderland this lad so would be a random one for him to make up. He wouldn't tell me who is source is, but through his job I imagine he has a few decent contacts.

Just put £20 on it at 2/1 in case - he's put £100 on it.

Will wait and see.

I can't see this happening to be honest - bloody windup merchant.
