Done deal.

Poyet's system will work more effectively with better players in it - just like any system anywhere in the world. Defoe won't make us a good side on his own, but he's a start.
Yes, if he was signing for the mags this place would implode

So that's two decent strikers up front.

Okay Gus, let's here your best Mike Bassett.

Ladies and gentlemen. England will be playing Four-Four-f***ing Two.

What is he then? Do we need to sign Peter Crouch as well to make this work?

He's a good forward with an eye for goal and a yard of pace. There's no reason why he couldn't play either from the left or up front for us on his own. It's not like we use the lone striker as a target man anyway.
There's 3 games off the top my head this season we could've conceivably have had 9 points instead of 3. Easy in hindsight obviously but, Swansea at home (2 glaring misses towards the end). Villa away (all the pressure but didn't have a fox in the box striker) and West Ham at home (when Jozy missed that sitter). Defoe would've scored in all 3 of those games imo. Players like him are invaluable to teams like us struggling to create chance after chance every game. They need to pop up when it counts the most.

You could perhaps say that Burnley & Leicester away were both games with opportunities to take all 3 pts...

And what is Poyet's football with Defoe in the team ? We don't know yet but I'm absolutely convinced he will provide a much better attacking threat than anyone else we have in the squad whatever formation we play.

Portsmouth's financial meltdown presumably.
We'll still play the same laboured build up though. Which leads to the other team having plenty of men behind the ball.

Defoe isn't going to help break through a solid wall of defenders.

Poyet has worked with Defoe before. Really can't see him expecting Defoe to be a target man with no supply

I've got everything crossed that Defoe's signing brings a change of ethos from Poyet. By Christ do we need it.

Possibly SEB...but just heard on SSN (so probably shite) that Jozy's move to Toronto may be scuppered by the "US Player Reallocation Process", whereby they might not want two of USMNT's biggest players playing for Toronto.
