Defoe

If it's true, hope their is transparency with the numbers. A lot of it is coming from the Defoe camp, so I would imagine the numbers are inflated. I hope so anyway.

I don't care to be honest, if he does the business he is worth whatever we paid. We have done it on the cheap for the last few seasons (or tried to) so I'm not going to complain if they're now paying over the odds to add goals as that's what we are desperately lacking.

Think Poyet may have pushed the club into doing something for a change instead of counting the coppers and hoping we scrape by.

Agree. It's always something that we end up doing but have done it wrong so many times before. Generally with an aging player. Guess we are not their first choice so something has to give.

It will mean a change in philosophy or system. Has to, otherwise pointless singing.

Unless he thinks having a striker who will take 90% of his chances instead of 30% will solve the problem.

I think we may see a slight shift to be honest, but it won't be 442.

At least we know he is hungry. Could have stayed in Toronto and picked up the cash. I think he probably looks at the England squad and thinks he would walk into it if not in mls.

Yeah. He has been in France for a week working on his fitness and conditioning. Apparently in class shape.

That's good news, mind. Do you know if it's as close to happening as the press are suggesting?

Probably the best bet we can get as far as a proven goal scorer.

Great Deal jozy out a striker who is an actual goalscorer to replace him and will be hungry to prove he can still do it. If he scores the goals to keep us up could not give a flying shite what we paying him. Will hopefully result in a more attacking philosophy from gus now as well

Will admit mate, have no idea about this one. Heard something was close on Monday. That could have been anything though so didn't share. Not even sure if this deal is close as the media are suggesting to be honest. Out of the loop till about an hour ago.

I love it when people take a punt at trying to be a future ITK. When he doesn't sign today he's got his bases covered, in the small chance he does he'll be all over this thread next transfer window when he takes another punt. What a loser

they were discussing this on talk sport last night ,pretty much a done deal according to them like, they were saying that sunderland were the only club willing to pay 80k a week, its supposed to be a 3 1/2 year deal, now i couldn't give a fuck what hes on/how much he cost , not my money ,the only thing that worries me is how we will get the ball to the fucker in the box?, if he gets it you just know he will score , i think its a good signing tbh

Sure he's a good signing. Who wouldn't take Defoe over Altidore at this point? You're also correct about Gus and system/tactics. If this deal happens, we will soon see if Poyet is actually worth a shit or not IMO.

i agree, most on here always blamed "lack of service" to ja/cw etc, whats changed ? mind i hope it works out, i like him me

Agree with that, could be the perfect partner for Fletcher imo, in a 442. Will Gus change in though that's the thing.

Agree. Fletcher is very intelligent off and on the ball and would drag defenders away for Defoe to exploit. Don't think it would be a straight 2 up top. Maybe 2 of them dropping into the pocket without possession.
