Yes we do hold to many people back, but as I say, I don't believe it's the system. It's the players that are the problem. We need more talent, we need more pace, and we need more time to coach the finer points of Gus' style.

The people who say that we play negative defensive crap every game don't understand what Gus is trying to achieve. Whether or not he is succeeding in this currently is another matter.

If the papers are to be believed. The deal will cost us 14 million over 3 and a half years, for a 32 year old.

Congerton should hand in his letter of resignation tomorrow.
So you've started your post with the line "if the papers are to be believed", then ended it by demanding a man's resignation, presumably based on reports that you're clearly unsure about yourself.

Well done. That's impressive even by this board's standards.

From what i can gather from Gus' various interviews, we don't avtually play Gus' system. We play some kind of retard version because we lack the required players. I think the idea of signing Defoe is to move towards a situation where we have sufficient talent for the mythical Poyet 'system' to reveal itself...
hahaha couldn't have said it better myself :lol:

Aye, because signing a forward who has scored 124 goals in the Prem, putting him 14th on the list of top scorers and getting rid of one who has 2 goals in 48 appearances is f***ing shit business like.

You can knock £2m per year of whatever is left of Jozy's contract off that figure mate.

Can you tell me who Congerton should have gone for who is both better and cheaper? and if you can then I suggest you get your application for Congertons job sent off in the post in the morning.

I'm not bemoaning the signing of the player. Defoe has proven to be an excellent talent over the years and could create a decent partnership with Fletcher in time.
However, 14 million is a little bit excessive given the circumstances isn't it?
