3-4 year contract for a 32 year old is ridiculousI agree. Still huge money for him personally and a long deal.
It is but we are desperate. Plus he's a proven goalscorer and we are swapping him for a guy that has scored one league goal in 42 appearances. Also signing defoe will attract other names aswell.I agree. Still huge money for him personally and a long deal.
even though we play one upfront, I dont think our system is necessarily designed for a big striker.I wish mate
we have good enough players to do it, despite what people on here think, we are underperfoming and have to change the system for this lad if he comes, I don't think he will score goals in our current system
poyet will probably play him left wing
£40k, £50k ..££80k per week? All mental to me. 2 on £40k per week who can't score or 1 on £80k per week who should..gamble but we know the 2 on £40k can't so what have we lost?If anybody genuinely believes we would give Defoe 80k pw then you're mental.
To rich. Massive gamble. Could get better for that.£

Yes, with Defoe instead of Wickham or Fletcher it will give Pants less to aim at, but Gus says he prefers passing football than that kind of physical style. I know we are far from comparable, but plenty of top teams play one up front with a short striker, look at Aguero at Man City for example.
Defoe will be better at springing offside traps/making runs onto throughballs than our current options, which is how we should theoretically be set up with our inverted wingers & overlapping fullbacks... especially if we got a creative CM.
Although he's good playing off a target man, I actually think he would fit into our system surprisingly well
This is keywe are desperate

If we get cash plus Defoe maybe aye. I jus reckon it'll be 50-60k and an extra year has swung it over other offersWhy? Dozy is allegedly one of our highest paid players and if reports are true of us getting cash plus Defoe for him then it's easy to see where the 80k is coming from.
