Jadeja being stuck on 175 not out this morning had me thinking, why do captains not give the batters a heads up so they can go an whack it for a couple of overs and put on an extra few bonus runs?
I get that a lot of the time they'd opt not to to protect the average but had Jadeja been given a heads up, given he was batting at a good strike rate anyway, you'd think he'd have went for the 200.
Remember reading an interview from Adam Gilchrist about his century v England. He said Ponting gave a signal that he was about to declare so Gilly started whacking every ball and nearly broke the fastest test century record. Only when he got in the dressing room no such signal had been given
On subject of declarations, Pakistan have just done the worst one in history
