On 16 October 2013, Downton was appointed to the position of Managing Director of the England and Wales Cricket Board with effect from 1 February 2014, in succession to Hugh Morris.
Collier is CEO of ECB and responsible for the overall business reporting to Giles Clarke who is chairman -
Responsibility for the day-to-day running of the ECB rests with the executive management team who report directly to the chief executive, with each enjoying a high degree of functional delegated authority.
The chief executive, in turn, reports to the chairman of the ECB Board. This was expanded in size from 12 to 14 members in May 2010; for the first time including two women directors.
An executive committee chaired by the chief executive is responsible for delivering the ECB’s strategic plans and three other committees (cricket, commercial and finance) are actively responsible for working with the leadership team on policy, planning and strategic issues - plus also an arm’s-length Discipline Standing Committee.
The board is comprised of a chairman, deputy chairman and chairman of cricket elected by all 40 members of ECB, two independent directors, three directors from the first-class game, two directors from the recreational game, two ECB executives, a women’s game representative and an MCC representative.

Downton is MD of England Cricket,a section of the ECB whilst Whitaker is the Chairman of selectors, which is part of England Cricket .

The most interesting one of these as far as Durham are concerned is Whitaker. Been a virtual ever present a The Riverside over the past 3/4 years as the northern based selector.. Could not wait to get Stokes into the ODI side a couple of years ago, even playing only as a batsmen when he had the broken finger. Not sure if he is pro or anti Onions, Graeme has been selected for quite a few squads over the passed few years without playing so the doubters maybe in the England camp. Be interesting to see as the chief selector if he pushes Borthwicks case this summer he will have seen more of him tan anyone else over the passed few years.

Chairman of the ECB management board i.e. he is the main man .[DOUBLEPOST=1389614638][/DOUBLEPOST]See the attached link for an explanation of how the ECB is structured and who is who
The rest must be the coat tailers.
