David Bruce leaving SAFC

Bruce's most identifiable skills given his job history so far, and his performance here, are in marketing. And he's been unquestionably good at it. However, the skillset for a CEO who could be involved in noegoatiations with multinationals re sponsorship deals. handling large svale finance/treasury issue in conjunction with a CFO (especially where there potentially major construction projects in the pipeline), etc, is significantly wider. Put simply, the size and complexity of a PL club may have outgrown Bruce's skillset.
I agree. I always thought it was a marketing apppointment. Interesting to see any job description. A CEO will be responsible for this activity, amongst others, but will also have a hands-on approach to it. So preliminary talks by Bruce but finalise contracts etc with the CEO.

I think it’s shocked a few because he’s one of our own if you will.

But , with our growing successes one would presume another level of expertise is required .

That’s my take.

KlD does t faff about mind .

This will be it. They may have offered him a role reporting to the CEO but he’s kicked it back for what might be one of several reasons not least that he would be working to someone else’s strategy. Which would be more sales/revenue generating focused.

The lad has done a lot phenomenal job, but can you argue if he is so marketing focused that a lot of his best stuff could have been farmed out to agency.

Our entire model is built around player trading for this eventuality.

I’m sure the incoming CEO will be a professional operator who will drive revenue and the organisation forward.

But that’s a completely different mindset, and almost certainly a different relationship with the club.

Bruce was a fan who happened to be very good at the job. That combination is irreplaceable.

But its a different job to what Bruce is doing.
