Dave Challinor - managerial rumour

I’m torn on this (not just him but the idea of anyone from lower leagues stepping up). On the one hand many have said in the past

* fed up of the usual suspects on the merry go round being mentioned. Many who fail and fail again.

* you hear comments that new managers should look to learn their trade down the pyramid rather than expecting to walk straight into top two divisions.

I’m all for new exciting fresh ideas instead of the merry go round dinosaurs. And also what evidence exists to say likes of him would be worse than lampard or a known name? Also foreign coaches with similar experience people seem to be open to the idea of, but because this one manages in English pyramid we turn our noses up at it.

I’m not criticising anyone, just explaining thoughts in my mind.

Brian Clough went from pools to Derby and look at the job he did? Granted was a different era.

It feels like All of it is a moot point anyway in our current set up. We could announce Klopp tomorrow and I’m unsure what he could do with speakman and KLD pulling the strings, the budget and possibly telling him who should be playing.

Agree on the foreigner element. Many seem to favour that when it guarantees nothing and can have more hurdles than owt else.

It really wouldn’t surprise me with this lot.

Sack Michael Beale, write off the rest of the season, wait well in excess of 100 days with talk of obsession with progression, high performance culture …. and appoint Dave Challinor 🤦🏻
Challinor doesn’t need a work permit so 100% isn’t him the person has been chosen and waiting on paperwork it’s a foreign coach coming in

Work permits are a formality for players and managers and it would be announced immediately. The English leagues are full of foreign managers/players and I have never once heard of a team applying for a permit before announcing it.
