There is an argument that our decline began the moment we sold him to Villa all those years ago.

How ironic then that he scored the goal that effectively consigned us to League One.

I assume the irony will be lost on our odious owner, let’s just hope the summer months bring a change of ownership, today is a watershed moment in Sunderland’s history.

It's not that we plummeted straight down but it was the first big loss IMO. We went two points off a Champions League spot that week and then it just got slightly worse and worse after that.
