Dan Neil

Off to Boro if they don't go up, imo. Close to home so wouldn't need to uproot. If he can settle a place in the side, he'll be in a possible Premier League side in less than 2 years.

Nah, he's just a good lad, who is a genuine Sunderland fan and who did well for us when he was in the team. Its natural to want him to do well.

Fair enough but i dont see it that way. When you compare Hackneys attitude and commitment to boro i dont see that with neil and safc.

If we were a championship club wed be losing a player we could have got a decent fee from but now were in the pl this point is overlooked.

To leave a club he loves on a free just doesnt sit right for me. Giving nothing back at all to the club who developed him

Fair points mate.

Dan Neil was a great player for us and captained us back to the Prem. Don’t get the need to have constant digs …
If we hit europe this year he qualifies as home grown. Id hang onto him, and give him a new contract as backup. Hes not the worst midfielder on his day like.

Think Ipswich was probably the wrong move anyways. Their manager chops and changes for fun. See it with Jack Clarke especially most weeks.
I thought rangers would have been a great move for him. Chance to be a regular starter in a decent league, chance to win trophies and also play in europe. I seen him as the sort who could have spent years up there and done really well

Why would he sign a new contract somewhere if he's already been told by management he's surplus to requirements?

Decent enough championship player but not a premier league footballer imo

Its almost like the management and coaching staff knew better than anyone on here.
Not everyone, we who said he was shite where getting slatted,

If boro dont get up this season they will be aimlessly drifting about the efl for years

Yip. There were meltdowns about multiple players leaving over the last couple of seasons. I can’t think of a single one (I’m sure someone will jump on to prove me wrong) has gone on to achieve anything like what they did here. You could make an argument that had Stewart been fit for the last two years we shouldn’t have sold him when we did. But we’ll never know. I get the sentimentality thing for lots of the lads that dug in and got us out of L1 & back into the Prem, but the club have had to be ruthless to progress and not make the same mistakes we have previously.

One of the players we sold is currently second in the bundesliga and after a tricky start is now playing regularly.

Nothing back at all? He captained us to promotion. Is that not giving back?

It is also a short career, and he has never been on decent money or had any signing on fees etc. Think he got a half decent bonus for the promotion, but he will see and hear what colleagues are earning too.
Until enzo arrived he was our best player in the Championship. No need for people to go on like bell ends.
The haters / bell ends have moved onto Diarra now mate.
