Cricket World Cup 2019

Just had a bit to reflect on what we've all just witnessed.

I stand by what I said earlier, that was the greatest sporting event I've ever seen. It had absolutely everything, brilliant cricket, a team digging in and fighting back, crucial mistakes, bizarre (never to be repeated) incidents, and a match that was tied not once but twice.

Add to that the personal stories. The redemption of Big Ben, Andrew Strauss, even things like sticking with Adil Rashid for the years he was being carted everywhere.

Brilliant. just brilliant.

I'm sat here gutted that I'll never experience anything like that throw from Roy ever again.

one human racing a cricket ball for a world cup final victory. England backing the cricket ball, kiwis backing the human. Every millisecond of the run between the wickets crucial.

45 games over 7 weeks and it boils down to one man making a 40 metre throw in 2-3 seconds to tie the game for the second time in half an hour.

Mental.

That series was immense over 2 months, for me this beats it as a one off.

Not for me Although it is close that second test had everything today had and more it was the greatest cricket match of all time

nothing will beat seeing Harmison strangle kasper down the leg side

We also had

England aggressive first innings scoring 400 in a day at 5 runs per over

Harmisons slower ball

Flintoffs over in the second innings

Flintoff counter attack when we were letting our match winning position slip away like smashing the Aussies for 4s and 6s galore

Giles getting ponting after the grief he got at Lords

Brett Lees unbelievable rear guard to nearly win it getting hit everywhere

Warnes 45 only to tread on his own stumps (edit 90 wasn’t Edgbaston)

Also McGrath pulling out after playing football half an hour before the toss treading on a ball

That said today was still f***ing amazing and I’m buzzing
