I am sat in very pleasant weather at the southern tip of Windermere. The dog has learned to swim properly this weekend and the bairn is sat next to me. It is warm and calm with boats on the lake and the fells in the background. Plus it is surprisingly quiet. There’s a bloke fishing over there. We’re at the lake edge. One chair each. A few snacks and the papers.

There is no phone signal or internet access in the cottage but two bars of 4g here and the All4 app.

We’ve just watched the most dramatic piece of sport I can remember seeing and England have won a World Cup final.

I’m off to launch the ball in the lake again for pooch to swim after.

Living the dream.

Just need you to see Sunderland win the Play-off final next May and we're laughing there, Foggy lad
