Cricket World Cup 2019

Do you think that a crowd turning up tomorrow to watch a 20 over slog that's done by lunch is better?.
If it means they get the overs in before any more rain then yes. Cricket really needs to anticipate the weather better. Fair enough if the weather is set fair carry on with a 50 over game but if more rain is forecast just reduce the overs and be done with it. Yes I am aware forecasts can be wrong and exact amounts of rain and timing can be difficult to predict. Don't think you'd be short changing anyone if you made them aware that they would be watching 20 overs only on the reserve day to ensure a result is achieved

Personally much rather see a result however short the game is

I listened to Agnew interviewing Dave Richardson on TMS earlier and apparently the policy is to get the match done and dusted on day 1 wherever possible even if it means reduced overs.
Apparently it's supposed to be spectator friendly.

It is spectator friendly. Even if they can go tomorrow I reckon most would rather see a result today. Nothing more could have been done to get a result today

If you took that pessimistic view any ODI with rain due would turn into a 20/20 though.

Looking forward to a proper length game tomorrow.

Yes it probably is but makes a bit of a mockery of the purity of a world cup semi final of a 50 over competition which had an allocated spare day. Also the fact they had to play 9 matches to qualify.

Yes, it's confusing, but it's the best solution for me.

No, that's not what I said.

It was the silly juxtaposition that if we had restarted today we would have had a shorter game than if we hadn't. Backwards.

Didn't manage to palm off my ticket. No genuine fans around and the tout scum were offering a f***ing tenner! Wanted at least half face value for half a game

Just seems an arbitrary decision to cut the overs tonight with the day available tomorrow. Even if they come back on and bowl one ball before they go off again, India will have 19.5 tomorrow.

Aye, definitely better to come back tomorrow - it’s just turned the tie into a farce, which I concede is nobodies fault - can’t help the weather.

Worried too for England. Be an absolute joke if we are knocked out because there can be no result in our semi.

If we do end up knocked out due to a no result, it's entirely our fault for the arrogant, embarassing performances against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

I'm confused as to what happens tomorrow.

Do they start again and play 100 overs. Or do new Zealand finish their original 50?

It could be glorious sunshine tomorrow how on earth is that fair on New Zealand as could be a completely different pitch.
