Thus far the spinners have done nothing so dropping Ali looks like the right call. We will be in the box seat if we get towards 350. I would have taken 325 before the game.

I don't think anybody will be complaining if we get 350. If it's closer to 300 though then I'm worried.

No we shouldn't. We lost 3 quick wickets so we had to have a period of consolidation with 2 new batsmen in and a collapse a possibility.

We've had that period now and are now on the attack again. Smart cricket.

Bit of a quandary. Does Root keep it ticking over and getting Stokes on strike or slog out and rely on Buttler, if he misjudges one?

I'm happy with him keeping it ticking over now as long as Stokes/Buttler at the other end go big. Still think we missed a trick not promoting Buttler to 3.
