Cricket on TV

Cornsay62

Central Defender
Morton Shield
Scarsdale 123
Aidensfield 125/9
A match winning 6 in the final over by David Stockwell saw Aidensfield regain the Morton Shield after an absence of 3 years .A switch hit by garage mechanic Rosie Cartwright gave the hosts a chance until Stockwell put paid to their local rivals who played Martin Bicknell as a wrong un .

Garage mechanic. A role I fulfilled in the early 80s

Electric Batteries was the garage name bottom of the back lane on Hylton road

Walmington On Sea Challenge
ARP Wardens 152-4 Dec
Home Guard 156-9

Hodges the captain of the Wardens must have regretted his rather generous declaration when ringer EC Egan (Fiery Fred) went off injured after one delivery. The Right Hon. A Wilson was Man of the Match with an undefeated 81 but the unlikely hero was serial toilet visitor Charles Godfrey who hit the final delivery for 6. His team mate Fraser said he never doubted for a minute that they would win.

Cricket was an episode of Morse when Lewis played and I think that one of the Bicknell brothers was playing

And midsomer murders had the original barnaby being an umpire
Wrong on two points mate . Can’t recall Prescott being a MP 😀 Mind you he liked his Jags 👍
Prescott was one of labours top mps back in 97

I’ve got a nightmare memory of him dancing to things can only get better

Funnily enough I watched a Marty Feldman documentary the other night filmed early 70s and Prescott was playing for the commons football team

How about Emmerdale 🤔 Never been a game on the field since the days of Joe Sugden and Matt Skilbeck . Mind you the open house pavilion has plenty of equipment and clothing on view

In Emmerdale in the wool park behind the bar was an old cricket ball on a signed plinth

I just can’t a close up of who signed it , though Ian Botham turned up in the wool pack one night

Midsomer had at least a couple of episodes where a cricket match featured. Usually involved Mrs Barnaby discovering a body squashed by the heavy roller or someone eating a poisoned cream scone.

:lol::lol::lol:

Morse definitely had a whole episode with cricket and also another when Lewis was desperate to hear the latest test score

Dice cricket featured in Reggie Perrin when the titular character produced his score book to prevent Jimmy and his son in law discovering he had his secretary Joan upstairs. Think it was England v His Favourite Girls.

Jimmy pointed out that it was a pity The Tall Girl on the bus (92no) missed out on her ton when Violet Bonham Carter hit two successive sixes to win the game 🤣
