Saxelby's death was horrible. He drank weedkiller which usually means you die slowly and painfully. I remember reading that at the end of his career at Durham he wrote to N/Echo journalist Tim Wellock saying he was quitting the game and then gave some bizarre reasons (not sure what they were) on how to change cricket.
I wonder if the depression comes because cricketers are natural analysts. Batters, bowlers and fielders are always looking at what they, as individuals, can do better. That can usually be manageable when you're in a team setting and have your mates for support but, when you're on your own, it's a different story.
