The Old George I’d think.Oldest pub in Newcastle I believe. You’ve got the Newcastle Arms over the road to that too. They’ll have a fair few cask on.
Only after the match. Probably the first place you’ll get decent beer on between the SoL & Roker. Harbour View is ok.I will put it on the list for next time.
Where is everyone heading tomorrow.? I'm a fan of the Avenue. Anyone ever go in there?
Could be right likeThe Old George I’d think.

Sorry, thought we were still talking about NewcastleSunderland!
Havent been in for a while, but used to go in a bit more when the Academy was there & I was there more frequently. Was always a bit weird. Wonder if it survives on match day trade.
Tilleys pisses all owa it.
Vaux’s pub opposite Pop Recs down Hendon. Lovely building not dissimilar to Crown Posada in that it’s a traditional pub.

isis before hand, then BHV until the uber chariot whisks me away.Probably somewhere with a telly pre match to watch the mags get beat. Which sadly rules out BHV and Keel Tavern.

Aye, I amAre you thinking of Bodega? Bacchus is on High Bridge
Avenue has sky and very decent cask.Probably somewhere with a telly pre match to watch the mags get beat. Which sadly rules out BHV and Keel Tavern.
Never heard of it before. Another for the listyou may find me propping the bar up in thereThey're also now doing f***ing superb pizzas ourt the back courtesy of Midnight Pizza cru. They're a different animal to wildfire, being detroit style - butbrilliant all the same
the mosaic pattern on our new goalie tops? its the mosaic from the tiles on the front of the pub

Not sure if this post was on my mind, or if I’m just excited for tomorrow, but I’ve asked Saturday morning gym off & im having a few impys.Popped in a couple of months ago & stocked up on a few Jakeheads. But my drinking has changed back to pre-covid now. Only time I drink in the house now is if people come round. The odd can before I go out or get in.
Only impys I remember having this year are a half of Wear Beer in the Isis & one in a craft bar in Athens.
Can’t think when I’ll drink my stash in the house now unless I’m watching us on a Friday night match or something.
Ah perhaps I've been lucky, or you the opposite. Called into today actually. Decent enough selection. Bitter very nice, from Almasty. And had a wheat from Turning Point. Took a punt in that one as its a rapberry offering. Was alrightI refrained from recommending the Crown Posada because the cask has been a bit crap the last few times I've been in. Selection and condition. Nice pub though so worth going in anyway if you've not been before.
Free Trade is the best pub in the north east imo. Topper.
Despite my take i think you are in the majority. Whenever there's been a beer on, with both options, I've had both and and for me cask usually wins. Main issue is you are more likely to get a duff cask due to the way it's kept. Done right cask is king for moi. Shame its not popular with young uns who prefer livlier/fizzy offerings.Prefer keg to cask, and also prefer to be in the town if I'm honest
Bar just along the track at Monkseaton is excellent. Love a little metro bar jaunt between the two.Dog and Rabbit is my local and always have a good selection on. Might have gone in tonight but in schipol airport waiting to board a flight home and on the back of 7 days of 8% trippels I might give tonight a miss
If in Tynemouth Platform 2 is usually decent and a bit further away is tynemouth lodge which sells great beers.
Pleased it was a hit.Went in for one. Cask in superb condition.
Simple equation for me & TEFG. Stout, brown ale & bitter is good for cask. Pales, IPAs etc, keg.Despite my take i think you are in the majority. Aye you've said before, I've sort of seen that angle to some degree. But a really good cask IPA, can't whack it.Simple equation for me & TEFG. Stout, brown ale & bitter is good for cask. Pales, IPAs etc, keg.
Pales & IPAs on cask just feel to me like they’ve been left to go bad. Like there’s something missing
It's everything you want from a pub.Never heard of it before. Another for the list

Vaux did a recent pale on both. Cask was much better IMO.

I’ve got a Jakehead impy. I know I’ve commited to stouts now, but really fancy it. But don’t want to spoil the only can I’ve got by going rogue from stout. Not sure if this post was on my mind, or if I’m just excited for tomorrow, but I’ve asked Saturday morning gym off & im having a few impys.
Updates of the stash getting fucked up the arse to follow.

Big Mouth.Which one?
To be fair, with the Vaux stuff, I’d still drink it on cask. Good to compare/ contrast he entry point is usually cans from my sub box.
