Craft Beer

Ne
Town Mouse
Mean Eyed Cat
Wobbly Duck
Lady Greys

Closer to station

Gunner Tavern
Town Wall
Head of Steam

Mosaic Tap and Beer Street have good beers on, but maybe not the best for you if you want cask
Never Heard of the Gunner Tavern like. I’ll have to give that a look

Ah, Gotham! Didn’t even realise it was open

Went in the Gunner Tavern a couple of weeks back. The cask was ok but the place itself seems very neglected. Sticky tables in the front but better in the back. Mosaic Tap is the best place around the station but as above no cask.

Will probably do Town Mouse and Mean Eyed Cat - I've found them very decent before. Though might try gunner tavern as a new venue.

Yeah I don't mind a walk or I might even get the metro as I have to head to Tynemouth anyway.

Agreed. Town Wall had gone back a bit as well, though haven't been in since Christmas. Prices were eye watering, even to me, and I'm used to paying daft prices at times

Animal triangle for me this afternoon.
Haven't been in for a while, selection was a mixed bag last time, but they do have a few cask on for the poster above
Was in again last week for one. Off a cliff drinks wise compared to when it started.

Last time in it had a couple of great offerings from Vault City but was over 8 notes a pint.

I'd swerve the GT mate.
On the train now heading north to Newcastle ready for the match tomorrow. Anyone recommend anywhere I can get to from central station (don't mind a walk)? My priority is cask.

I'm heading to Riley's in Tynemouth so tempted just to do some metro pubs. Maybe Duck and Rabbit in Whitley Bay. I know the Free Trade gets a lot of love but I've not found their cask to be in great condition. Equally, my dad recommended the Lady Jane Grey but found their cask to lack condition. Town Mouse?
Town Mouse is right up there for cask beer. Crown Posada is also superb for it. Thats only a few mins, down bank, from station.

Not been to Crown Posada either - thanks

Aesthetically tremendous and cask is their selling point. Bridge Tavern basically just across is another good pub. Not as good as CP for cask (not many are) but still does some good offerings.

Rehills continues its slow decline. Not fell off a cliff or anything but theyre certainly not as good under the new ownership.
the place in whitley bay is decent. we got some Azvex and other nice stuff last time I was over there
Town Mouse is good for cask. Beer Street right next to the station is worth a go.

I'm also heading back today. Buzzing to get into the Bridge Hotel Vaults for the first time as well.
beer street changed hands. Used to be owned by the same people as Wobbly Duck and the fox place in felling. havent been in since it changed.

I absolutely love the Free Trade (i know it's not the centre like) and a stone's throw from TwobyTwo and Full Circle - and at a push Donzoko

Hazy Daze? They get good gear in.

WB is excellent these days for craft.

Still good. Was absolutely packed a few weeks back, spilling out onto the street.

thats the place. A very good bottle/can shop, knowledgeable owners, and space for a cheeky pint while you're there. Nice.

Was disappointed with the splitchimp's selection last time out though.

thats good to hear. Will have a look in next time I'm passing

See the craft beer channel are getting over to Donzoko.

Indeed.

I fear it may go the way the one in Newcastle did, over time.

I don't bother with it now when over there as there's many others.

I refrained from recommending the Crown Posada because the cask has been a bit crap the last few times I've been in. Selection and condition. Nice pub though so worth going in anyway if you've not been before.

Free Trade is the best pub in the north east imo. Topper.

Dog and Rabbit is my local and always have a good selection on. Might have gone in tonight but in schipol airport waiting to board a flight home and on the back of 7 days of 8% trippels I might give tonight a miss

If in Tynemouth Platform 2 is usually decent and a bit further away is tynemouth lodge which sells great beers.

If we're briefly discussing Newcastle pubs, I was in Bacchus last week. Grim. 9pm on a Friday night, about 12 people in, beer choice was poor. Alpacalypse ffs....
Havent been in for a while, but used to go in a bit more when the Academy was there & I was there more frequently. Was always a bit weird. Wonder if it survives on match day trade.

Tilleys pisses all owa it.

Oldest pub in Newcastle I believe. You’ve got the Newcastle Arms over the road to that too. They’ll have a fair few cask on.
Went in for one. Cask in superb condition. Really enjoyed it. Heading to left luggage now.

Was very pleased with condition. Jane Greys and Free Trade I've given up on regarding condition of cask.

Yeah I love dog and rabbit but won't make it this trip. Meeting @MiddleAgedMan in Platform 2 later. Never been.
