Craft Beer

If you want cans, you’ve literally got the supermarkets or through Jesmond to Rehills. The place in Central Station reopened I think.

& you’ll have the Vaux taproom that’s got a small selection
Aye, I just happened to be in town and thought I'd pick a few up if anywhere had any. Might walk round The Ivy for a couple in a bit if I can be arsed.

Just had Burton Strong Ale (6%) from Tower brewery (bottled) with my Sunday roast. Perfect. Packed with American Chinook hops. So not an ancient recipe but it’ll do.

So Play as a brewery is no more, and they plan to keep the taproom open as a bar for special occasions, quizzes, gigs etc? But without the benefit of selling their own beer? Good luck with that.
Winding down leases etc? Be surprised if there’s a business like that in that venue at the arse end of Boro. Be amazed if it’s there after March.

In more positive news, how about this man. Only a bit further when I go over and see the bairn.

definitely one for the NW lads…

Probably in the minority on this thread, but taprooms do nowt for me generally. Much rather be in a pub. They do a job but always look cold and uncomfortable, despite the great beer selections. Better in summer I suppose.
I tend to agree that brewery taps are generally a bit cold and dull (with a few exceptions), I prefer pubs as well.

I don’t think Polly’s is a brewery tap tho, the brewery is still on the farm as far as I know, this is just a bar with a fancy name. 😄

Nice. Although I see they've gone for the work canteen look!

I'm firmly north east based like so unlikely I'll make it there.

Point to them is the focus is almost entirely on the product. The likes of Cloudwater and Track are great (CW is warm and have cushioned areas too you can laze about on). But concur some can be as you describe - mainly as they looking to keep costs down.

FWIW I also prefer a pub setting.

If I was you, I’d probably give the brewlab tap days a swerve. Me and the Mrs ventured up a week or so ago. Let’s just say it’s a pretty hardcore tap room experience :)

At the same time, I think I’ve been in Vaux taproom twice since the Bridge opened…

Couple of things here for me, taproom is now pretty much match only, bridge is warmer and more pleasant, and I’m getting my fix in a place that’s actually closer to home. (That last one is pretty weak tbf)

If the tap is open in the warmer months, I will venture back.

Vaux is handy for me for midweek games when I'm only out for maybe an hour or so pre match, and I pass it heading into town.

Wonder if the Bridge will have any outside space in summer? Haven't really looked round the outside.
