it’s alright as a session option. You’ve got Guinness, then that, Camden & Forge that are trying to cater to the mass market. As it stands, I’d probably choose the BeewDog if I were buying cans, but there’s not much between them. I know (or that’s my opinion) cos I did a taste test between the 4 of them one nightAs cans go, Brewdog Black Heart is a decent drink.
It’s surprisingly good tbh.I’ll give it a go, but I’m guessing it’ll be overly sweet & synthetic tasting. The new Brewdog Rocky Road was canny shite.
Sainsburys have got a couple of new ones in too. A peanut butter & jelly stout, which sounds shite, but a one I’ve had before was decent enough. That might have been Northern Monk actually.

You have missed out London Black, which trumps all of them.Women

In terms of any cans sub 7%, is rarely by a craft beer now. Price vs quality of session stouts doesn’t add up for me. I’m usually left disappointed by them & paying 3/4 times the price of the ones I’ve mentioned. I might have the ones that are in the supermarket cos they’re priced cheaper & it’s a tick on the owld untapped
Had it once in a can, but it id not put it in the bracket of the other ones mentioned cos I paid a canny premium for it.

Just picked one up in Morrisons. Wasn’t on 4 for 3 like so I’ve reported you to the mods.Remember the scene in Trainspotting when Spug goes to his interview.

3.75 at Morrisons for an 8% stout. Might be shite but worth a go at that price.
4 for 3 deal on at the minute too

Chocolate stout done well can be top notch. Sam Smith’s nailed it with their bottles. Omnipollo Noa is “decadent” without spoiling it. But most just gan daft on sweetness. I steer clear of anything with pastry in the description now.Logon or register to see this image
I got a couple of stouts in Sainsbury’s after seeing your thread earlier. Northern Monk Peanut Butter & Jam and a Tiny Rebel Doughnut Glaze something or other. Hopefully the Tiny Rebel one is better than their usual shite.Did the Microbus and had a couple of glorious impys from Fierce. (Bought all the tins too). Now in Blues. Had a couple of superb Brown ales from Track (i know, not a stout). Next up rockie road stout from Siren.
Happy Internatuonal Stout Day!
Most supermarket gear isn't too clever tbf so fingers crossed. TR often go too sickly these days. Mind Blues doing a TR tap takeover this month. Should be better offerings there. Atleast two or three I've not tried before.I got a couple of stouts in Sainsbury’s after seeing your thread earlier. I’ll have the TR first - it’ll go down the sink if necessary and the NM can cleanse the palate, unless it’s like the Aunt Bessie’s abominations they did. Most supermarket gear isn't too clever tbf so fingers crossed. Edit. They've got a cracking IPA on by Verdant. 9 notes a pint. And a couple of tremendous sours involving Vault City. The Timothy Taylor Northern Monk stout collaboration is rather pleasant too.
