Depends really. I was 14 years old when the Soft Cell version was in the charts so that’s the one I really remember as do most other people I would guess. Gloria Jones original one is excellent I would agree. The song itself has been covered by many bands and the Broken Peach version I put up was cleverly done I think.
I know it is all about personal opinion but how you can think that version of I Beg Your Pardon is better than the original? Different certainly!

It's a tad Sandy Denny (just from the 5 seconds I listened to like).It's certainly not the same in a cut glass English accent..
It's interesting enough, but it's nowhere near better than the original (or the more well known electric version for the pedants
).
