Coventry

If they come up, which seems likely, they won't know what to do with themselves as they reconvene their one sided rivalry with us, whilst (rightly) being despised by a club 200 miles away.

I feel for them in a way (I really don't) that they are so insignificant that they have to follow motorway maps (Leicester) to find someone to force a derby with.

The fact we sent them down in 2002 still grates with them. Seems we are quite good at sending SAFC rivals down. :)
As a Cov fan, your comment comes across as bitter and obsessed with us if anything. I remember recently when a Coventry supporter left only two stickers at your ground (during an England match) and Villa fans absolutely lost it online. Soft bunch. 😂

Leicester, however, is a much more accurate derby and rivalry. You're not completely wrong at least.

Strange post!

There's a reason Coventry and Villa were rivals in the 90s and that was because Birmingham were plodding along in the 2nd and 3rd tier.

It was very 'tasty' and Villa fans of that period know that.

Always had your derby as Leicester although don’t Leicester argue that it’s always Forest for them?
Proper Derby games are mutual not one sided in my opinion.

Ours Swindon v Oxford. Hell on. Drives me mad when a few of ours despise the Shit Heads more.

Its true that it got "tasty" between us when you were in the big league but that's down to the fact that Cov see us as rivals as I mentioned. Same with Wolves and the Tesco Bags.

But anyway, you are doing well and you'll probably get promoted so fair play.

And I'm sure you'll be delighted to know that in the Premier League, games often kick off at different times. I'm sure many on this board will appreciate the reference. 😉

The thing is, Forest and Derby hate each other far more than Leicester.

Coventry and Leicester should be the natural derby.

I don't think many Cov fans see Villa as rivals. A lot of people in Coventry see Villa as the club posh people in Leamington and Stratford-upon-Avon support.

I didn’t really like Jimmy Hill’s Coventry to put it mildly - not that I was even alive.
And Richard Keys is a total knob.
But there’s something about Frank Lampard’s I do quite like. I wish him well.

Well as someone who grew up in Aston, 4 streets from Villa Park, I can categorically tell you that they are misguided in their opinion.

As the biggest club in the region, of course we have fans in the surrounding counties, that's why Sunderland have fans all over the North East and beyond. It doesn't mean we don't have fans in the local area. That's just mental.
I see we have a new Aston Villa fan that thinks they're the biggest club in the world.

Do all Villa fans think this?
Who said that? Certainly not me. I have come here respectfully as someone who has enjoyed the company of Sunderland fans on many occasions and has nothing but respect for your club. My posts do not suggest anything like what you are intimating and I have no idea why you would say such a thing. I have followed this page for years and only just decided to join. Tyhe vast majority of the fans on this forum have been very welcoming. I have no intention to big up my club. We are all just football fans at the end of the day.
Is this thread the meeting point of the supporters of every club in England?
With respect, this is a football forum and this is a thread about another club. If only SAFC are welcome to post then I apologise.

I’m not having a go, it’s merely an observation.

Good to hear. It sounds a bit like you're wanting to patronise the other Midlands clubs, which in my experience is a bit of a Villa trait.

It’s weird, I’ve seen them live three times this season and they’ve looked absolutely shit defensively. Last Saturday against WBA they were very poor before the entirely avoidable sending off but still looked like scoring. All in their hands now. Think it shows Lampard is actually a very good manager.
They’ll need to recruit brilliantly if promoted but they’re earning the right to be promoted and do deserve to be top.

Sure. Now, how many Villa fans grow up in Aston now?

It very much is a family type club and that's not a criticism.

Birmingham, are the gritty club.

They're by far the biggest club for miles around so hardly surprising they wind up some of the other clubs in that area.
Exactly. And it's not like they aren't doing the same to us. We are nowhere near the biggest club in the world and nor have I suggested it. But we have a great history and our rivals hate that fact. Same with Sunderland. The Mags may have sold their soul for billions but they will never be on the same level as SAFC in terms of prestige and neither will our neighbours. (Or Coventry).
