Don’t see any issue with it - he’s not got the form or fitness to make the Test squad but this is a good chance to have him continue his rehab.

Just a bog standard generalisation isn’t it.

I don't know these days with the ECB.

Just have to wonder how many chances does this lad want? He was blowing out his arse in Australia, went to the Caribbean and couldn't get himself match fit. He was bowling off-spin for Sussex the other day having only managed an over of his normal bowling.

What sort of message does that send out?

It sends out the message that he’s unfit and the only way to get fit is……?

Good stuff by the ECB this

Forget bloody restructures to eh CC or whatever, a good way to get players ready for international cricket is really invest in A teams or the Lions, give them exposure to flat pitches abroad against pace and spin etc

we can afford to do it

I also think in the summer when no CC is on, get 2 county XIs, north and south, get them playing against each other on flat pitches

I feel like even this small thing would not have happened under Giles, very much a Key decision you can tell

I dont agree on this one mate, he has actually had tooth surgery and then had food poisining, so been a bit unlucky, they want to get overs into him and he hasnt had chance.

with the amount of bowlers injured he will play this summer like, he has had a great start to his test career mind, isnt he taking his wickets at 19?

Strauss did it yeah in Dubai

good idea, the pandemic stopped a lot of this stuff tbf

I just think more regularly than that, counties wont like it, but I'd even have it during the season, stick them on tv with proper scrutiny on them etc,

I just think theres so much talent in England it might be one way to make the leap from the CC to a full house test match on Sky, slightly smaller

problem as always would be scheduling. it would be absolutely mint for those of us who love long format cricket if they had, as you say during the stop in CC, an all star style north V south set of games. could even be a north leg and a south leg, but the problem is there would be an overall with players deserving it and those hoovered up the 16.4

there'll always be a set of players unfashionable enough for the 16.4 but massively successful in the CC the problem being they aren't the sort who'd be on an international radar - you imagine any of those would still be playing in whatever pyjama format is going on
Well on talent yes. On ability to survive 5 days right now, no chance

that's unfair. think he'd manage five days at an all you can eat buffet no bother

Yeah you are probably right like, some would be mind though, likes of Sibley, and even Leach type players. You'd get a lot of finger spinners and opening bats.

Maybe not enough for a full strong 22 players though

or you could put them on the ECB wage bill then you have the right to play them whenever you want

Not now but he has been unfortunate this seasob mind with a few freak things

he survived 5 days well summer though didnt he?

Overseas you are probably right aye, but remember lets just try win the next test and worry about that later

if he gets overs in the body then he will be considered

I mean we aint got many bowlers fit and available mate, Jimmy and Broad cant play all 7 tests!
