well if you look at our previous recent signings-Lees, Raine and Eckersley -then these 2 Saffers should prove further shrewd signings. Both average 50+ in the current S A domestic season.Always a good read -You must be logged on to see external links
I know I’m biased, but it appears we’ve made the best acquisitions of any of the Division Two counties. On paper atleast.
Some really surprising moves already, Bopara to Sussex came out of nowhere and Trego to Notts is an eyebrow raiser too. Think Malan could be a cracking signing for Yorkshire.
Thought county cricket couldn't attract big name foreign names yet there's loads of them on there.Always a good read -You must be logged on to see external links

We've heard of Windrush, this is Brexrush.Thought county cricket couldn't attract big name foreign names yet there's loads of them on there.
It's Brexrush every year in County Cricket thenWe've heard of Windrush, this is Brexrush.
Mitch is the classic County cricket "team bin juice" been through loads of counties never been a first team regular but always managed to get that contract. Our old friend Mitch Claydon to Sussex too - I must admit, if we signed a 37 year old seam bowler I’d be very sceptical about it.

38 and 34 and will be looking to prolong their careers in div 2.
Biggest eyebrow raiser for me was Topley to Surrey considering his injury record.
and Trego to Notts is an eyebrow raiser too.
Reluctantly, I fancy Yorkshire with Malan, and also Root for early season, when a significant number of CC games are played. Could also have Bairstow when IPL is finished.Philander, though, will be up for it early on to create a good impression but I doubt it'll continue until the end of the season CC run in.Fancy Somerset for the county championship despite points deduction, good improving side with young players getting better each season and Philander in theory could be unplayable in early season conditions if up for it.
Then again have had a bet on them over last few seasons ,so will probably fall short again, seen them 11/2 and 6/1 in few places will have a bet again

Yorkies also have an advantage having the help of "our mutual friend" who can always weigh in with a few points deduction if any other county looks as if they're creating a challenge.
Overtons and Philander staying fit is a big if but I'm a Somerset admirer, well run and supported county. Tresco and Trego vastly admired cricketers, both clearly good guys.Don’t go there !![]()
Seriously yeah I agree Yorkshire definitely look strong ,hope Bairstow, doesn’t play much as he will have a point to prove.
Just think Somerset looking stronger every year and will be very close, if Gregory and the Overtons fit and Philander firing really good attack and although no great stars in the batting line up ,they bat very deep all the way down the order.

I'm not opening old sores, it's been done to the death, but found this article on Trego on looking up his move to Notts.
Interesting take on his views of the "establisment" but the article reveals what a decent character he is.
