An interesting article about some of the signings already made by sides.

Seems like we have signed Archie Bailey I thought that wasn't confirmed.

Article in the mail but this gets you past the paywall

I was surprised to see Jack Leach was joint 2nd wicket taker in the CC in yesterday's stats with 39 wickets so far. Thought he'd done very well this season but not realised he was so prolific. The next English spinner on the list is Dawson with 21.

I guess England have decided he is not right for Australia but he's clearly the standout spinner in the championship this season.

In fairness, he bowls on the doctored pitches at Ciderabad. Simon Kerrigan would probably take a Michelle there

Sussex lost 3 already 114/6 still 200 behind and the top 6 back in the shed.

Any hope we had of them drawing down the drain.

So we're going to be 12 points adrift of Yorkshire and Essex in 11th with 3 to go.

No 50 over games today despite it being Saturday in August.

Bizarre planning although we know it's to try and give as much attention as possible to the crisp circus.

Yeah I actually have a bit of time to watch some cricket, couldn't believe there was not one game on but then quickly realised why

They seem to prefer Sundays for the weekend games. And as both of those days are doubleheader days in the crisps and nuts cup I think for once it probably isn’t part of some conspiracy. It’s also handy if you want to go to football on Saturday.

Of course, in the good old days you’d play on both. But the little darlings can’t manage that any more, bless them.

Prefer Saturdays personally as public transport is better and have to get back for work next day, but it's not the worst decision they've ever made and I'm just one person.

Also signed Josh Davey, Jonny Tattersall and Ben Green for next season, which likely will be Div.1 red ball cricket for Leics.

Wasn't aware of any of their signings, which goes to show the lack of interest in CC from the BBC.

Eskinazi and Davey are really good signings to accompany a side that already has Patel, Ahmed and potentially Masood and Handscomb.

It's got Crawley 60 tests

Eskinazi is a good all format cricketer, should average more really but he scores at a good rate in the shorter form stuff, a leader in the dressing room too. That said, he might struggle to get in the top 4 ahead of Patel, Budinger, Ahmed and Shan.
If Durham were signing someone with 31 average people would be fuming he's decent in other formats mind

It's all pretty relative though, Leics didn't win a CC game for about 2 years not so long back.

Rhodes and Gay's average wouldn't be much more when they signed anyway, around 34/35? Eskinazi is arguably better across all formats than they are.
Yeah. I think Eskinazi is stronger in other formats.

420 runs in T20 this season puts him joint 13th highest runs and more than Kane Williamson who has been opening with him and batting one less game.

Playing his home cricket at Lords in April,May and September.

I think every opening batsman in the world would not enjoy that!

Unlike Gay he's played several seasons in Div 1 too.

Surrey,Notts,Warks,Lancs and Hampshire aside most counties have to recruit whatever they can. Somerset meanwhile have a conveyer belt from private schools
