County Cricket 2024

I thought we were a bit premature in releasing him after his confidence took a blow after receiving a concussion injury. Very pleasing to read of his progression.
Possibly but probably best he got away as he had a few trials after leaving us. He appears to think being a net bowler for the Sydney sixers ( i think) particularly helped his bowling working with Steve Smith.

A cricket website on fb has someone suggesting that Feroze Khushi has escaped punishment for his bat size as the gauge was apparently faulty. The poster said it was on the most recent Wisden podcast.

I don't listen to podcasts.so I don't know if anyone can back this up but if it's true then it is another example of how we get shafted when others get away with it.

I listened to that very podcast this morning on my walk, and that was the suggestion and that they did not think any action would be taken

Having googled what a batting gauge is I fail to see how the fuck it can be faulty

Sounds like an ECB cop out to me. @Voice of fair play any more insight would be helpful?

Sorry mate just picked this up, it was mentioned on the Wisden podcast that I listened to that the gauge ‘ was questionable’ and the bat went through it a second time so they said it looks just going to quietly brushed under the carpet.

That’s exactly what they said on the podcast and that if any punishment was going to happen they probably would have heard by now

That sounds questionable let alone the gauge

Cheers for passing obviously not a shoot the messenger situation.

Apparently. If you slide the atinto the gauge it can get stuck but slid in completely flat will go through. It went through on the 2nd test so fair enough. The only issue is did Durham ask for a 2nd test and were they granted one? If not,why not.

Foakes not playing for Surrey as the ECB are managing his workload
To be fair, speaking as someone who started his own club journey as a reasonable quick bowler as a teenager but never quite continued that development, and so ended up as a batter and more than occasional keeper in his 20s, I can tell you that I felt immeasurably more broken and knackered after the first couple of games of the season keeping then I ever did bowling. If you don’t question the managing of bowler workload you probably shouldn’t question this one.

More that they ain't even going to pick him. So why even bother.

Good interview with Cameron Steel in the Guardian
Can't see him getting England honours, but if he keeps the performance up all season.

Then at least he puts himself in the frame, having played with the Captain and Vice Captain can't hurt.

Seen Worrall at Surrey talking about playing for England too. He qualifies next year for England having played internationally for Australia too.
