Could it get worse?

Dead and heading to league one. Could we end up being worse and find ourselves dealing with another relegation battle next season?
I see no hope or bright spark in this side, if ever one appears it soon gets shut out.

Rotherham were relegated last season with 23 points, and are currently fourth. The other two sides that went down are in the top two places. The gap in quality is huge.

With this team yes, to much negativity at the club. It needs a full clean out from the top down over.

Could it get worse? If we are in the same position in league 1 next season then yes. I won't be hopeful if Short is still here next season I know that. The sooner the club is sold the better.

Well the cycle will repeat, instead of promising prem youngsters on loan, we will get promising championship youngsters on loan. They won't be up to it and we'll be in the same situation. Unless we get a change in owner, the decline won't change.

If a takeover happens or at least new investors running the club. Blackburn and Wigan top two in that league.

I just hope we are 'too big' for the league and much of our team can do a job down there, added to the fact the better League One may want to come to Sunderland. It's a pathetic big headed opinion but the fact Rotherham are doing OK and the promotion contenders were relegated last season it's the only hope I'm clinging onto.

Absolutely it could get worse. Everyone on here last season seemed optimistic about how good life would be in the Championship, not in terms of promotion, but certainly in terms of winning games and entertaining the fans. Look how that has turned out.

No one will have any idea what team we will start next season with. We will not invest money into the squad - if we were going to do that we would have done so in the last 2 windows to ensure relegation didn't happen. So yes, without doubt next season could be hugely problematic and difficult especially as our brand off the pitch takes hit after hit.

Its a huge rebuild job like. This squad will struggle again next season, no doubt about it. There’s a handful worth keeping hold of, Asoro, Honeyman, Matthews and McNair who would probably be the best player in the league IF fit. (Assuming Oviedo won’t stay) The rest need f***ing off and that includes the manager.

Yes it could get worse.
Going to be a huge summer as we will need about 15 players again. Does anyone have the confidence that we have the type of scouting network in place to pick up that many players successfully? That's without even mentioning the budget, not many at that level have a budget.

We will get absolutely battered in League 1 with this weak gimps. We need a positive takeover, a manager who knows his best team and formation and money. So in a nutshell aye it’s going to get worse before we turn it around.

Never felt so embarrassed of my own club in my lifetime. Absolute shambles

We have the worst scouts and negotiation makers in the history of footy.

I don't think we need big money if we had a decent set up. We are likely to have neither.

We need a new bastard goalkeeper for a start

Matthews is f***ing shite I'd get shot of the f***ing coward first chance we get

League 1 FFP is a salary cap of 60% of turnover, and the cap excludes players who signed long contracts before this season (so Cattermole and Rodwell won't count). With a £31m parachute payment, and even crowds of 20,000 or so, we'll have a bigger cap than most clubs' turnover. We could offer a few hundred more than any other club, and still cut the wage bill, assuming some higher earners leave this year. And the quality of the AoL will make us more attractive to clubs wanting to loan out players; I know people moan about loans, but all League 1 clubs use it to the max, sing other players on 1 year contracts on frees, and pretty much have half a new squad every year.

The debts are like concrete boots to us.

One way or another they need either paying off or somehow detached from the football.

Any manager needs some freedom to buy footballers. This season has been a nightmare in terms of player acquisition. Free plodders or loan plodders with low wages.
The 'good' thing about league one is that's how virtually everyone operates. I would think we should be a huge draw at that level.
