Bandon had all hands on deck today to remove covers and prepare the pitch against the water dodgers from Shildon

After a monumental effort the loyal Brandon lads had the pitch fit for a 3/30 start

Some Esh players and spectators whose game was called off turned up to twist about the game starting and that it didn't start till 3/32 ( lads, Brandon and umpires were in position for 3/28)

Shildon were knocked over for 69 Brandon getting home comfortably for 3 wickets

So the league goes to the final game with Esh still in pole positions but with their arses twitching

I'd have just laughed at them

Congratulations.

Wonder how many games would have gone ahead if more clubs had been willing to delay the start a little bit longer. Seems like some clubs pray for a bit of rain to just call games off. Fair enough it was lashing down in Sunderland when our game was called off at 10am-ish but once it stopped it didn't get above a drizzle for the rest of the day. Can't help but speculate if it was the same around the NE.

I bet they have had the covers on for most of the week any team not doing the same would have had no chance of getting a game on

It's a few things Andy mate

Preparation - putting a bit of graft in before hand

Club spirit - getting all hands on deck

Money - being able to have decent kit

Luck - having a bit of will from umpires and the other team

Have took the piss but well done Shildon today (where the fuck is ARLC)

Not disagreeing with you or Edd, but if a club has most of the square covered, why not take a chance of getting the game on? Can understand the arguement about not making people want to travel etc but if a few more teams had taken a chance instead of calling it off early on then more games could have gone ahead at reduced overs. Especially as, as I say, after about 10:30ish the rain wasn't as heavy as it had been. Bit of time for the outfield to dry and the game could go ahead. But then some umpires won't play unless it's bone dry!

Would rather play a few overs (25 today) than none

It's a short window let's wait about if we need to and try and play

Thats not because we are doing ok we alway put a shift in to get games on. Ask anybody

Were you the Umpire and if you hadn't needed the game to go ahead and win would it have

Doesn't sound like cricket to me. Sounds like you cheated!

Aye, it was my decision I was in charge of this game. I am so ashamed now

As a 3rd team we have played all our fixtures barring one. The game that had been called off is the game you are going to play on monday. Sometimes teams can't be arsed to play. But this can't be said about the lads involved for us this season and that's why we are 3rd/4th becAuse we will play

This. You and Ed need extra credit for that, if you hadn't turned up in the pissing rain the other week Annfield Plain wouldn't have happened.

game didnt start until 3:35 everyone at the ground knows this to be true but lets not get away from the great effort from brandon lads to get it on.could be interesting if the esh lads make an offical complaint to the league
