Congratulations Australia

It was f***ing hideous tbf

Tbf if London has decent weather today the Aussies would have probably won because they didn’t even look troubled until that rain delay.

Can't control the weather though. Stokes was in full control of the declaration.

The thing is mate, even though history backs up your point

At the time it was 0-0.

We had to win the series to get the Ashes back.

We won the toss on a great wicket.

Taking them 3 things into account we should not have been thinking draw we should have been thinking win.

Aye I get your point..easy to look back and say the declaration was costly. I thought at the time it was a horrendous decision mind and I think Stokes will know it but won't admit it. But it's fair to say England played far superior cricket than Australia in the series and had more sessions the better team over the course of it.

I stand by the declaration. It didn't turn out to be the right decision but sport isn't played in 20:20 hindsight. You can only judge on the match situation at the time. Had England taken a couple of quick wickets then it would have been called a genius decision.

The big mistake was some sloppy batting to lose a couple of quick wickets when rain was due.

To retain the Ashes and win the World Cup within months is something else
Is it? I thought the standard of the World Cup this year was very poor. They did very well to beat India in the final but getting there was the minimum they should’ve been expecting. When you say retaining the ashes you’d think they beat us.

Didn't realise its the 6th time they have won it. That is some achievement. I can remember them getting beat in the inaugural final in 1975 by what was to become that great Windies team.

Bitter as fuck some people on here like 😂😂😂

No doubt you’d have been saying the standard was shit if England had won it?

Way better achievement than us 4 years ago
Not sure I agree with that. This format favours the bigger nations. Australia were almost as ragged as us this time round, and without a fluke innings, would also have lost to Afghanistan.

And once you get to the final it all comes down to how you play on the day. The NZ team in 2019 played far better against us than India did yesterday.

All fair points
