Confirmed KLD only owns 41%

That's what needs answering now. How the Mercator dynamics work.
that’s my current interest.

‘Mercator’.

Was going to make a thread on it, but I know so little that I don’t even know what to include in the post!

It just sounds and feels so dodgy. Don’t like knowing our club is in the hands of Mercator.

Maybe if SAFC fans as a collective weren’t so blind in their support of a constantly failing football club we might not even be in the third tier as even prior to the current shower we tolerated the clueless (in a footballing sense) absentee landlord that was Ellis Short and third rate shysters like Byrne, Bain, Moyes etc who are the reason we fell from comparative grace so quickly.

We have too many supporters who are averse to constructive criticism and fellow fans who question club issues like this current shareholding debate and come out with crap like “it’s Mag-esque behaviour” or “you can’t be a true fan” and other such nonsensical drivel (just look at our post war playing record and the number of relegations and failed opportunities).

It seems the time has come for us all to tell the current owners that the piss taking party that we were told had stopped by the worlds most ironic PR guru really does need to be extinguished or this famous old club will go lower yet. Half a decade looming in league one as it is!

KLD you need to outline your long term vision and commitment to SAFC please.

How should we have acted and how would it have changed anything? You either go (and 'tolerate it') or you don't. Ellis Short was so removed from the club and couldn't have given a fuck about what Sunderland fans thought of him. He was going to do whatever he wanted to do regardless.

Ashley was the same. I don't care about being 'Mag-esque', but the greatest achievement of their protests was that they showed a dictatorship that 'we're so desperate, we'll accept anyone'. After all the 'pressure' applied, Ashley got the price he wanted over a decade after they wanted him out. Unless Saudi wanted to buy a club in 2016, it wouldn't have worked for us either.

That's the case for most protests in football tbf. That said, our owners are so panicky and weak that there's a little bit of a chance that they might decide to do something if a protest does happen.

I've said for weeks kld didn't have 50%. Been posted on here last week too. People did know.

Yeah, and it only came up again when we started to flail about sacking managers, making panic buys and spending nearly two weeks trying to bring a manager in. It's not that the rumblings weren't but there, but had we had a successful season, they wouldn't have received any attention.

The board are kyrils, that much is almost certain. Equally it's very likely that kyrils 41% includes the majority of the voting shares (that's the only thing that would tie in with the statements about him having the controlling shareholding). Why they've lied about it, what influence Methven is having even without a place on the board, why they're still here and when they're going to leave are very much pertinent questions though.
The problem is how can we believe anything they say now? If he says Methven isn't involved how do we know if that's true or not? He is sitting next to him at matches, was pictured in Uruguay etc.
Why the hell are they giving this to the athletic? At the very least should have been a personal video. Whole thing just stinks.

Not true. I literally posted it when we were top

i’m buzzing that we’ve got you there tomorrow. Good luck with it all, I remember it being somewhat hostile in reply to the reps when Donald was getting a lot of flack on social media prior to the meeting. I think the club turned up with a number of representatives. Hopefully it’s not that way for you tomorrow

The suggestion that sartori has the only non voting shares makes sense to me mind. If we said a percentage was a share then that means there's 80 voting shares and kld has 41 of them. Its the only way the 41% makes sense that I can see.

I also think you're right about the board, they're kyrils people. I'm almost 100% certain that sartori would side with kld if he had voting shares. So I believe them that kld has control over the footballing direction of the club (Donald knew he was failing at that anyway, probably glad to pass it on).

The way they've hidden things is a disgrace though, the way they've carefully worded things to make it sound like Donald and Methven had some peppercorn shareholding, rather than between them owning 39% of the club.

Big questions need to be asked about why they're still here and when they're going. Is kld not allowed to buy them out until promotion / a certain time has passed? More worryingly does he not want to fund 100% of the club. He needs to start being very, very honest and transparent like he said he would when he bought in, starting by attending tomorrow's meeting. I have reason to believe he's not the issue, the secrecy very likely wasn't his idea. But in that case it only goes to show that its not necessarily the case that what he says goes. Time to front up before there's a real protest
We have been fooled again by those slimy twats and the only thing we can do in reality is stop funding it one person at a time .......I have never been so angry about our club in the many years i have been supporting them even being taken over by those clowns didnt set the anger meter to anywhere near 11..but this is the last straw for me ...I can see now why Keane turned us down ..He knows what the north east people are like and he wouldn't want to be associated with this lying shower.

The lying toads don't learn from their previous mistakes do they?.....The worst thing is that I bet donald and charlie are pissing themselves laughing at our gullible nature! I despise them with a passion and this is the final straw for me !no way back until yhey are gone fro our club for good.I didnt believe the naive kid thing about KLD but again i was fooled so infact he is a lying (by omission and skulduggery)naive pawn of the not so dumb twins.I m guessing they were hoping for a promotion to suppress the anger at this diabolical news.

18 February 2021.

Sunderland AFC today received approval from the English Football League for Kyril Louis-Dreyfus to acquire a controlling interest in the club, signalling the start of a new era on Wearside.

Stewart Donald said: “I am delighted to welcome Kyril Louis-Dreyfus to the club as our new chairman and controlling shareholder.
We should have known it was horseshite coming from that fork tongued fat little wobbler

It's simply the new Madrox. A holding company owned by the various members of the "ownership group" in the disclosed proportions, rather than them having shares in Sunderland themselves. Pretty much a standard set up these days.

There’s nothing to suggest that anyone has non-voting shares. Indeed, given the shit-storm that they knew would erupt when this became public, if there was a majority of voting shares with KLD, they’d have said it in their statement today. No reason not to. The fact that they haven’t said that today, in my eyes means it’s not true.

We’ve been lied to, by KLD as much as the rest. He does not have a controlling interest in the club. The fact that he has a majority of board members under his influence is ultimately irrelevant. The executive board members are employees of the club, accountable to the shareholders. Donald and Sartori could sack and replace them if they wanted to,
