Confirmed KLD only owns 41%

You are paying over the odds for L1 players anyway so won’t be a huge step up in wages, especially with KLD’s approach to buy young and cheap rather than overpay for names or semi-retired former Premier League players.

As per my post just above your quote, I wasn’t talking about profit or playing budget - just being able to operate the club infrastructure in a sustainable way.
What? We just signed Defoe in the last transfer window.

Yes, see my post earlier in that conversation. Once promoted and the non-playing balance sheet becomes sustainable then there is more incentive for KLD to buy them out and I believe he would. Currently, with the financial risk, I believe he doesn’t want to put any more cash in so the risks are shared with Madrox.
You have totally lost me, what is a non-playing balance sheet?

Yes which was clearly a knee-jerk act of fan appeasing desperation and an indicator of turmoil - plus recognition that the imperative is to get to the Championship by hook or crook. Once KLD gets full (or close to) ownership and things are stabilised in the Championship he will be able to be more strategic and but young and cheap.

I'm old enough to remember when people on here were ridiculing the Daily Mail for suggesting that Madrox took the parachute money to enable the purchase of the club, and had put very little in themselves, and were turning on SAFC fans like Chris Wetherspoon for giving Stewart Donald 'abuse' (which he strangely never reported to the police).

Hopefully after spending years shilling for four of the biggest chancers in football, they will show a bit more humility.

The balance sheet for everything which is not the players. The costs of running the stadium (energy, staff, maintenance etc) the office staff you employ, the academy cost, the training ground operating costs.

You are running Premier League or Championship infrastructure in L1 which is unsustainable. There are clubs like Cheltenham who outside of the playing squad and coaches employ just 3 people full time, which is not uncommon in L1. I suspect you employ many many more.

Your stadium and infrastructure is a huge cost and risk at this level, but once promoted the extra income from the EFL and solidarity payments more than cover that cost.

So now we've got reports from both camps, a bit of guesswork on my part.

There's a division between the two camps. Both are now trying to force the others hand, Madrox to get more out of KLD, KLD to hope the fans are enough to force out Madrox.
It looks like there's been a huge fallout after the keane fiasco.

BUT the reason this doesn't really make sense is just last week KLD was seen schmoozing at the match with Methven. Again, this could've been Methven's plan, to be seen out, get the fans angry and force a buyout on his terms.

God knows
Maybe Methven is for KLD now and is cutting Donald adrift.

That's not a balance sheet but fair enough.

We also bring in more than Cheltenham even in league one. I am not sure on the breakdown tbh, but I think we probably could cover our costs in league one if we exclude the playing squad although how sustainable that is nobody knows.

SD and CM have told @TheAthleticUK that they would be 'very happy' to sell their remaining shares.

Would be v interesting to see what happens if KLD opted to test that sooner rather than later.

Grom Phil Smith...

This is the absolute issue that will never go away while SD is involved in the club

Let's say KLD wants to purchase Mbappe for £10M so has to put up £4.1M with JS putting up £2M, CM £500K and SD £3.4M
SD does not have the money and both SD & CM are only interested in getting profit out and into their own pockets not investing money into the club

SD & CM (& JS) can block any investment as they have to sign off any key financials

KLD - over to you to resolve this issue

I hate business mind. Someone said this might be a power play by KLD but could just as easily be a power play by SD and Methven to get the hell out of dodge and with a fair bit of wedge as well by forcing the sale of their shares and at a canny amount.
